I needed a new main lamp for my room, which doesn't have any ceiling lights, and though it's not quite bright enough to serve that purpose at night without another lamp to compensate, it's a good bedside lamp... with one caveat: it wobbles if bumped, and sometimes occasionally loosens as turning the switch or bumping it might rotate it to the left, loosening the pole from the base or the lamp from the pole. I'd recommend keeping this lamp positioned away from any part of a room that you might be inclined to reach toward frequently. If you happen to bump the thing, just take a moment to give the pole and lamp a gentle twist to the right, to make sure it's all tightened down. This is an inexpensive lamp that came encased in foam packaging and doesn't stand up exactly straight, but that was all okay. We needed a three-way torchiere floor lamp small enough to fit in our rental kitchen, which has a horribly bright built-in ceiling light fixture that can't be changed. This is not a lamp you would want in your living room. It's very flimsy and basic. I moved it to my office, where it is totally acceptable. I did not try the three way function since that was not important to me, so I don't know whether that works.

This lamp is easy to put together (just screw the various tubes together, screw the bottom one to the base, and screw the light fixture into the top tube -- I recommend starting at the top and building it downwards), and it seems to be fairly study and stable even on short carpet. The cord is long enough to be useful, and I like the fact that the light switch is up on the top of the lap and not just a toggle switch on the cord. I put a 60w LED equivalent bulb in it, and the plastic shade seems to diffuse the light quite well. Very happy with this purchase, and I think I will buy a few more. ... show more
