Definitely not 3-way, strictly on and off - which was fine for my needs. Comes in several short segments that assemble into one tall, very-narrow, very fragile-looking post. (considering that the lamp it replaces fell and broke, this is of concern) Assembly requires care and possibly some undoing-and-re-doing, and you gotta screw things tight. Base is a bit narrow and unsufficiently-weighted, somewhat wobbly. It requires canopy weights to keep it stable and secure, so forget that elegant base, it will have to be hidden under the $20 worth of ballast that keepd it from falling and breaking.. But once you get it set up and screw in a standard decent-wattage LED bulb, it lights a bedroom with a 9 foot ceiling quite well. ... show more

I have a black and a bronze lamp. This is a very inexpensive lamp, but doesn't look its price, much nicer. If it had a glass shade rather than plastic, I'd be completely happy. Perhaps they could offer it as an option. I'd pay extra. There seems to be some confusion about "dimmable." The lamp does not dim. It has an e26 base, designed for 3 way bulbs. Exactly what I was looking for. You can't use an ordinary bulb and dim to three levels. Using a real 3 way bulb in a lamp designed for 3 way bulbs is a much better. The rotary switch on the lamp has 4 positions: off , brightness level one, then 2, then 3. I first bought the black version. Was impressed. So much I brought the bronze version. I almost wish I needed another torchiere style lamp. This is an inexpensive lamp that doesn't disappoint. ... show more
