The shelf itself is pretty light and is most likely mostly hollow inside, but it feels sturdy enough. It can comfortably hold over a bakers dozen of hard back novels without issue. I didn't care for the mounting instructions. It makes reference to "5 holes", but doesn't tell you what 5 out of the 9 holes that is. The mounting hardware included only is enough to fill 7 of the 9 holes, and I'm not sure why. I would have liked to have seen the option to fill all holes with hardware for the best mounting strength. ... show more
