This kit is fantastic. The pliers are tremendous with several options on them. They are sturdy, solid and work great. So many uses in one tool ! The hook remover takes a little getting used to but once you do they are great. Long, so you can get down inside to remove the hook. Weigh measure works great too. Like I said, the pliers are the real deal here and my suggestion is to buy this kit. It's worth a lot more than what they are asking. Another plus with the pliers is that they come with a case/holster that we hooked onto the outside for the tackle box and the pliers click in so they won't fall out, fantastic. This kit is pretty nice. It is not that you "need" anything in this kit, but it does add some fanciness to your tackle box. Every item in here has a carabiner on it so that it can be hooked to your belt to keep them from going to the bottom of the lake to join a LOT of sunglasses. The scissors are super nice. The scissors have more capabilities than any pair of scissors should have. They do everything to include crimping weights. The hook remover is nice and the metallicized rod is nice and should last a long time without breaking. The lip gripper, I thought was a novelty at first, as I thought the gripper portion was weak. However, I noted that once weight pulls on the gripper claws, they do hold what is in them so they will hold the fish. Now, the gripper also has a scale built in it, but I am a little skeptical of its accuracy as I pulled it and the amount of pull it takes to register 4 or 5 pounds "feels" like more than 5 pounds easily. So, I wouldn't depend on the scale, but otherwise, this kit is pretty cool if you are the fisherman who already has everything, just don't wear all of this at the same time...I would put that on the net. lol. Scissors: The scissors work perfectly fine for cutting fishing line and have come in handy plenty of times. I enjoy the multi-functionality of the scissors, as the split-shot crimper function has been used many times now on various fishing trips. These scissors are the only thing from this set that I am able to use every time that I am out fishing. Scale: This is a pretty average scale. Not digital - the weight is revealed after the fish is hung from the grip, pulling down the manual scale. I will mention that you must catch a fish over 3.5lbs to be able to get a weight on it. You don't catch too many of those in Western Missouri where I am. Even when you can weigh a fish, it is not the most precise scale. You have to round to the nearest 10th of a pound, squinting an eye as you do so because the ticks are tiny. Fish Hook Remover: I have never seen anything like this. I am unsure if this is for people who don't like removing hooks with their hands/fingers or if it's to help dislodge swallowed hooks from a fish. I have not found much use for it, and it's just been taking up space. It is a pretty long tool that does not shorten down any, so again, I think you are expected to catch some pretty monster fish with these tools around. All-in-all the tools in the 3pc set are average. Nothing too special about them - I do not know if I would purchase with the price tag associated. After a quick glance, it seems that there are other products on the market that may be a better bang for their buck. For a beginner trophy fisherman or fisherwoman, this is a decent starter tool kit. ... show more
