They seem sturdy but would probably not be suitable for a larger person. The seats are medium width. I almost cancelled this set since when I asked how this folded I was told it folded in the middle. The pictures show it both ways. Folding in the middle and just the legs folding under. I received the one that the legs just folded under so no gap in the middle. I mainly wanted this for puzzles and crafts so did not want one with a gap of any kind in the table. Just mentioning this in case someone wants to check before they order. The basic design of this table isn't bad for a light, foldable card table, especially at this price. Yes, it's on the flimsy side, but it's not going to collapse or tip over, or scatter a deck of cards. I like the fact that there are no bars or struts blocking the seating positions, so 4 medium-size chairs can get in there comfortably. The folding/opening and locking mechanism is simple and does the job. The showstopper for me is the tabletop surface. It's a cheap, thin vinyl material on the outside which isn't especially pleasant to the touch or to look at, but that's not what bothers me--and besides, it does a decent job of keeping cards from sliding around. The real problem is that underneath the vinyl is what I assume is a maybe 1/3-inch layer of foam which makes the entire top surface a soft and spongy. That makes a tall glass or a beer bottle slightly unstable, and given the flimsiness of the table anybody knocking their leg against the table leg or leaning over the table has a pretty good chance of knocking over a beverage. If you don't want to put any drinks on this table, it might work out fine for you. Otherwise, probably a good idea to look elsewhere. I returned it. ... show more
