    • This is a proper road saddle, which won't be for everyone.

I bought this saddle in preparation for when I'm finally able to procure a road bike to upgrade from my 2016 Trek Hybrid, which I still love greatly. Of course the model I'm looking at is raved about, except the comfort for the saddle which is included. So, I figured I would try this one out, especially buying "used like new" price, and if I didn't like it, I could always return it. So I took it out for my usual 21-mile ride to get the feel for it. Now folks, this is a road bike saddle. While it does have some padding to it, this is not a plush saddle by any means. This is an accessory meant to be used with padded bike shorts worn correctly, without drawls on. This is a quite firm saddle compared to the one that came with my hybrid bike, which with the padded shorts on, feels like a comfy sofa compared to this one. But once I got out onto the road, any concerns about comfort disappeared. While you're always going to be aware that you're riding in a road saddle, it's not uncomfortable. After one ride I can say that there were no ill effects the following day and I look forward to going back out again tomorrow and giving it another go to keep breaking it in. There's also the fact that with a proper road bike, even an endurance geometry one, the more aggressive posture required of the rider lessens the pressure exerted upon your sit bones, which will certainly improve the comfort of this one even more. I really enjoyed using this saddle and I look forward to using it when I get my new bike at some point in the future. I also enjoyed the fact that the rails are composed of actual alloy, rather than a carbon composite, which would have required using carbon paste to make sure it didn't shift on the rails while avoiding tightening the clamp too much. It looks great and while I can't say much about the open part of the saddle and its benefit, I'm glad to know it's there just in case. And this is all coming from a, basically, 43-year old man cycling for the fitness aspect and the overall enjoyment of getting out on the road and away from screens. The Aliante version of the saddle is for guys like me who aren't very flexible and probably won't be without some intensive yoga training. My rating is going to be a hard 4-stars just for the facts that there are better(read: more expensive and comfortable) saddles out there for us cyclists. But I enjoy this one just fine and I look forward to piling on the miles once I have my proper road bike in my possession. Happy cycling all! Edit: 09/17/21 After taking this saddle out again a few more times, I'm gonna raise the rating to 5-stars because the more this saddle gets broken in, the better it gets. I didn’t get a fit and tried some other saddles before reading into this one. This is my perfect saddle. My previous saddle was causing me some pain and I tried giving it time but sadly, it wasn’t working out. Right out of the box, I set it up and took it out for several miles throughout the day and the pain is completely gone. I know reviews for things like this are very personal but if you get a proper bike fit and fit this saddle, you won’t be disappointed. ... show more

This is my 3rd Fizik Aliante saddle on as many bikes in about 15 years. The first two were the Fizik Aliante Gamma and they are still in great shape after all this time. This is my first cut-out saddle and it works well for me, though I do not really notice a difference between this and the solid saddle. I would recommend going to a bike-shop and try out saddles rather than buying online. It is just too much of a trial and error to find the one saddle that fits the backside well. At one point I had 10 or 11 saddles at my house. Through a process of riding and eliminating I picked the Aliante R3 and returned the rest. This Fizik’s first event, after training, was RAGBRAI 2021. I rode almost 500 miles in seven consecutive days across the state of Iowa. The daily high temperatures ranged from 85 to 104 degrees with high winds virtually every day. I bought this saddle to replace a completely terrible stock saddle that came with a new bike. I've been following Fizak for years and have always heard a lot of hype about their saddles. I wanted a saddle for my Giant Revolt 0 that mimicked my new 3D ANTARES VERSUS EVO R3 ADAPTIVE saddle on my Canyon Ultimate without spending $300. I took it on a 20 mile gravel ride and never once had to stand on the pedals to let the blood flow. It’s slightly more curvy than the 3D saddle but in a good way. Much more affordable and very fast shipping. The seat was perfect! I did not experience any discomfort after riding for hours. My sit bone did not ache.
