  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Really cool actually
Item Package Quantity: 3
I was going to buy 2 for 2 white elephant gift exchanges I had for Christmas but the deal for 3 was really good so I thought I would try it out, I had a check engine light on that I was avoiding for several weeks. The whole set up took about 5 minutes that includes installing the app, making an acount and plugging it into the vehicle. So after plugging it in I had 2 codes pop up (this is the only reason it's got 4 stars instead of 5) 1 code was read and it knew what it was, when it knows what the code is it gives you a description of what the issue is so if you know how to fix it yourself you can do so and reset the lights through the app. Awsome. The second code came up unknown issue and offerd no help through the app other than providing the code number which was easily googled. For the unpaid version it gives the option to schedule service and the data from the time it was read. For the paid version it will give you an approximate cost of how much it is to fix it (which can be helpful if you don't trust mechanics) or a hotline that apparently has mechanics on the other end (I don't know how thst works I have the unpaid version) Overall the price of the product the ease of setup and how easy it is to use past set up this is an awsome product and I highly recommend rather you fix your own vehicle or take it in the shop it's 100% worth every penny again the only downside I've found is that it didn't know one code that came up. I've only had 2 codes apear so that's a 50% success rate but with a low sample size and it still gave the code and was easily solved on the internet so really not that big of an issue. ... show more

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Ease of use
Item Package Quantity: 3
Very easy to set up. Was a little surprised why after entering my VIN the app didn’t know vehicle make and model. Had to enter manually. One big drawback is that the App tells you maintenance intervals for example oil change , battery, wipers etc. only problem is these intervals seem to be very generic and not based on manufacturer intervals. I have a Mercedes which requires oil changes every 10k miles not 5k like App recommends. The App does not allow you to put in your manufacture intervals. Other then these issues the device seems to work very well ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Great
Item Package Quantity: 3
I did get the subscription service to play around with it but you don’t need it. The free one does what it’s suppose to do. I purchased one for each car and so far so good. No complaints and would purchase again.

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Buy one for each car
Item Package Quantity: 2
I have bought one for everyone in our family. We don't buy new cars. We prefer getting value for our $$. Every once in a while one of the vehicle will have the dash idiot light come on. (As in hey idiot, pay attention, something isn't right.) We've used the FIXD device to find out what it means. Either to reset it (didn't tighten the gas cap enough). Or repair what was wrong (thermostat was failing). Now I know you are saying, "but I can go to a auto parts store and they can tell me what's wrong". True, but why wait for it to open, then drive over and hope someone can help you. When you can find out what's wrong right from your phone in easy to understand terms. Ok, here's the big reasons we got them. 1. We had a car that would throw up a light when the gas cap wasn't tight enough. Took it to the auto parts store and all they could tell us was the numbers corresponded to the fuel system and they could not reset it (liability). We would have to take it to the dealership to have it reset. Off we go. $100 later it is diagnosed and reset. Couple of weeks later again with the light. What now? It's late at night and we're at a friend's place. They had a FIXD. We tried it. Low and behold same error code, but the FIXD app told us the problem and reset the code. It cost less to buy a FIXD than a trip to the dealership to reset the code. ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to install
Item Package Quantity: 3
It was really simple the installation of the item. The instructions that come with it are a little more complicated that the actual installation. It's accurate. I used the product and then went to Autozone to double check the results.

  • 2.0 out of 5 stars Good knowledge, unnecessary expensive subscription
Item Package Quantity: 2
When I first heard about this app, I was excited by the idea of having all my vehicle information in one place. However, after using it for a while, I realized that it might not be worth the subscription fee. With just a little effort and a cheaper product, I could obtain the same codes and readings and input them into a code reader online. While there are some additional benefits to the subscription, I personally would rather put the $100 yearly fee towards the maintenance and upkeep of my vehicle. There are plenty of other code readers and apps that provide similar information for free or at a lower cost. The app itself is simple to use, but I did find the wording a bit complex at times. Overall, I appreciate the concept of having all my vehicle information in one place, but I'm not convinced that this particular app is worth the investment. ... show more

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars An interesting and useful tool, but it has limits
Item Package Quantity: 3
Well, it does work on newer cars. It doesn't work on my '99 Chevy truck. The dongle works as described. However, they 1) want to you to sign up for the subscription service before you even take your first data check of your car. Not cool. Let me play with the thing for a while first, please! Then 2) it draws enough power when the engine is off that newer cars with a second, electronics battery, report this as a power drain that should be investigated. My BMW is like this. It has a second battery use to maintain the computer, etc. The dongle shows up as a power drain error when I let the car sit for a day or two. So I unplug it when not in use. Otherwise, a long vacation would discharge this secondary battery. No biggy. You just need to be aware of this, if you car sits idle for a while. I don't drive that much. ... show more
