Solid shaft but if your motor swivels, it’s toast. The “V” end of the shaft is butter and the V splays, the plastic protector tears and the bolt holding it in broke.

    • Spring is too lightweight and length could be a problem.
I've got an 85hp Evinrude on a 16' Smokercraft and this transom saver just barely fits. Barely. I wish the design would allow for a couple more inches of adjustment and it would fit the lower outboard housing much better. Otherwise it's well made and the spring that makes this one different from others seems under-sized. When my engine trim is set down to allow the weight of the lower unit to rest on the spring.. the spring is almost completely compressed or collapsed. Suspension travel matters because without it this transom saver is no different than the rest. ... show more

After losing my most recent engine support while trailer and I stepped up to this product. I have been nothing but impressed! I have gone through at least three engine trailer supports and this is by far the best!

    • Vendor provided a replacement for initial unit.
The manufacturer provided a replacement unit after I posted comments that the rubber "yoke" of the initial unit retaining strap pre-drilled hole had pulled through.

    • Will save your transom
Nice product, really is a transom saver. Driving the s#%ty roads we drive on this unit totally transfers the weight and tork from bouncing to the frame instead of the boats transom. According to the advertisement the product comes with two trailer mounts, It does not, its miss-leading. There is not a seperate mount for the trailer frame. Instead I found that the U-shaped mount shown that fits over your back roller also fit over my trailer frame, so I guess it's duel purpose. ... show more

This is a great product and has an awesome design with the built in spring cushion system. I have looked at several other transom savers and this design is unique as I have found no others that have the spring cushion system to protect your boat transom even better.
