If you plan to do any cargo carrying on top of your new Explorer, you’re going to need these crossbars. New vehicles with roof racks used to come with these crossbars already installed. I guess the automakers saw the potential for a money grab by selling them as an accessory. It’s like having a radio as standard equipment, but charging extra for the knobs. These crossbars are a good alternative to the dealer-sourced product, which goes for 3 times the price. They fit well and are easy to assemble.
