I have not been fishing since I was a teenager when my grandfather took my cousins and I for an outting. It was one of the best memories I have of him! Now that I have my own kids, I can create those memories with them and these Rods have everything we will need to get started! In the box you get (2) telescoping rods that can be extended out to roughly 7ft, (2) pre-loaded reels with a fishing line, a set of pliers, stainless steel fish grippers and a box of various hooks & lures. I have this kit on hand for extra poles when heading to the lake to fish with friends or family. The reel housings are metal but are not heavy. Good action when casting and reeling. I like that the line is preloaded and ready to go. The pliers and lip grippers are useful accessories. The small tackle box has a basic assortment of lures to get you started, but you will want to pick up some extra weights, hooks, and appropriate tackle for the type of fishing you'll be doing. I haven't had an opportunity to try these out on the water yet, but from my initial experience this package appears to be of good quality items. The rods/reels appear to be of comparable or even better quality than others that cost more. This package includes a decent carrying bag, two telescoping rods, two reels, a set of fishing pliers, a "fish grabber", and a small tackle box with some random hooks, imitation bait, etc. Nothing super fancy, but with the addition of some sinkers, better hooks, better bait then you'd be on track for better success. The pliers are somewhat helpful, but the fish grabbers might be more of a novelty.... It's a good package for the price. I mean just two decent rod/reel combos would be worth the price, so anything in addition is a bonus. This is great for someone just getting started or as a gift for a fisherman. ... show more

The quality of the rods are not as good as more expensive equipment, but for the price it's a great value. The telescopic rods make it easy and convenient for transporting the equipment. These poles are great for beginner fishermen to learn on. The poles are telescoping so they can be compacted down to a small size and transported. Both reels come pre-loaded with fishing line that I'm guessing is about 6-10 lb test. There are also pliers and a kit with hooks and various lures you might want. It all comes in a carrying case that can fit the gear and poles with reels attached as long as they are telescoped down to their shortest length. It is a perfect kit for beginners learning how to fish and is very handy how it all compacts down to fit in the carrying case to avoid tangled lines during transport.
