I definitely don't review all the time, but felt Xtouc deserves some attentions. Sorry for the long review - just wanted be thorough and help out those on the fence. This is an honest review and purchased for a regular fisherman with my own money. I'm traditional plier guy, but got tire of the rust and having multiple tools to cut, remove fish and never by my side to serve me justice, so the hunt for the "perfect" fishing pliers for Xmas begins.....(also got tire of useless stocking stuffer, so why not pick out something for myself:>). I must have put in 4-5 hours reviewing what I would need and like. In the end, it came down to 2 finalist Xtouc and Piscifun AXP (new model). 1st impression on Xtouc was perfect (as 1st one that came in). When Piscifun came in, Xtouc still wins (had some high hopes for Piscifun but no dice). Note this is just off season review and not using it to remove fish yet. They both perform cutting, split ring, crimping, and plier portion about equal. Functionality/category that Xtouc wins out (by far): 1. Xtouc opens perfectly for my palm size without strain, Piscifun made it "uncomfortable" for my hands to open that far. Note we will be holding a fish in other hand, so I really don't need to fight the pliers. I'm average height guy at 5' 10" with average palm size. 2. Lighter weight 2.5 oz vs Piscifun 3.5 oz 3. Locking pliers 4. Holster better design and usable so I don't have to wear a belt. 5. Bonus I can rotate the holster all the way around so it doesn't bind with my seats. 6. No annoying strap on the holster for quick draw. At first, I was speculatory but less movement and quicker to the draw. If you are worry about losing it, just leave the lanyards on it - solved. 7. Can't say enough about the holster. Very strong design and the points are NOT covered for a reason so water can escape and the plier don't poke a hole into it. Note Piscifun was covered. 8. Lanyards is much smaller than Piscifun for wearing and sitting around. 9. The "play" on the pliers were equal. I'm DIY and if you take the point of the pliers towards you and wiggle the point side to side, it tells you the amount of engineering tolerance that was designed to. Xtouc and Piscifun about the same, not real tight, but not loose like my traditional plier. Both would pass my mark. Spend the extra $3-5 and get the Xtouc. No regrets on my part. Best <$25 fishing pliers. This will be very hard to beat for that price. I'm so looking forward to using it. There are features on it that I didn't think was important originally and they are. I can wear it all day and light enough. Hope it helps someone to pick 1 or a few points from this. ... show more

    • Very impressed, especially for the price
I am a geek about fishing pliers and have owned several. I'm very impressed with XTOUC pliers, especially at the price. With the skeletonized handles and titanium jaw inserts, they are extremely light, the lightest I own. I've used them several times in saltwater and have had zero issues. I've removed many fish hooks and don't see any wear issues with the jaw inserts. Despite a lot of saltwater exposure, I have yet to see any signs of corrosion and the pliers still function as smooth as when I first took them out of the box. My only maintenance so far is nothing more than a freshwater rinse after each trip. I was surprised by the quality of the lanyard. It is a coiled lanyard like what comes with plenty of other pliers, but unlike all the other lanyards I have that are a coiled plastic material, this one is a coiled plastic coated cable. I doubt that lanyard will ever break. The sheath is nothing special, mediocre at best, but I don't use the sheath anyways. My only concern, is with the low price, the cutters may not last, but so far, after about a dozen fishing trips, they still cut braid with ease. ... show more

Very light weight. Belt sheath is quality. Concerned that clasp on pliers will not last. You have to squeeze the pliers pretty tight to get it to work. I do not feel the value is there for the price.

Using for MN lake fishing. I have worn these on 10 outings, and often forget I have them on my belt. The minimal weight has to be experienced to believe. I have med-large man hands and get a very comfortable and useful grip of the handles. The pivot is eerily smooth. Line cutter is perfectly precise on braid. The jaw inserts appear to be sintered metal and have a rough gripping texture even where there aren't teeth. The teeth engage perfectly. I will end up grinding off the split ring tooth so I can grab swallowed hooks better. The squeeze-to-release latch is the icing on this cake. Before owning, I thought these skeletal pliers were silly and over engineered, but now I believe they are the perfect tool for the job. ... show more

I’ve had these pliers for about a year know I love them I fish in salt water all the time and had no issues no rust no sticking springs open smooth I do notice a little Side flex to them I would like a pair a longer larger and beefier for big toothy fish (SHARKS)but these are the best they cut braid. The best value money I LOVE THEM they are so inexpensive I should have bought 2 of them ... show more

Don’t buy these if you intend to use them as line nippers. I’d only get these for split rings and crimping. POSSIBLY for hook removal, although you are better off with a set of forceps from Harbor Freight for $5 Pros: They’re lightweight Seem to be well-made Good clasp mechanism Tungsten insert cuts through braid well Comes with holster that has an attachment for my belt Cons: Tungsten cutting inserts are slightly non parallel (unintentional) and thus don’t cut as well as they could (the cutting action is not like scissors. Instead, a sharp insert presses down against the other like a knife on a table) Inserts touch each other before the jaws touch each other, leading to jaw that doesn’t close completely Tungsten inserts are TINY—hard to tell where you are cutting Inserts are too far back on the pliers, good luck cutting your line close on a popper. You can’t get the cutting part close enough to your knot because the pliers are so bulky and the inserts are so tiny. ... show more
