Pros - OK price. Cons - In order to use the turntable with wooden railway tracks, adapters are needed. There are 4 outlets on the turntable, but only 2 adapters provided - not cool. Luckily these are sold separately on Amazon - 2 for $6.99. I would have preferred the cost being tacked on from the beginning, but I suppose not everyone needs them. Which leads to the next issues -- why change the wooden railway tracks connections for "Wood" to begin with? I get there are competitors with the same design but foul move IMO. The only part of the unit that is "Wood" is the turntable. The remaining parts are wood composite or plastic. The quality seems to have been downgraded from Wooden railway. ... show more

We have previous wooden trains and tracks. This was advertised as Thomas and Friends Wood Tidmouth sheds. The turntable came broken. Also, it does NOT fit any Thomas tracks. You have to buy an adapter to fit the turntable into other tracks. Added a picture so you can see what I'm referring to.

This Shed is sub-par compared to previous generations of Thomas and Friends. It seems like a knock-off. I do NOT recommend this item to any parents looking to expand your Thomas and Friend collection. Pros: The construction is sturdy. The accessories and figures are a nice addition. The detail of the graphics is nice. The turntable moves easily. Cons: The quality of the wood is sub par, the blue plastic claw and fuel pipe are useless and do not fit with even the train that comes with it. Worst of all, it has a new connector shape, which is different from every other major brand on the market, including the Thomas and Friends brand. It does provide plastic adaptors to be compatible, but if they get lost or break, the system won’t connect with all other Thomas and Friends tracks or buildings. We could glue them in place, but then they would stick out for storage. It seems like they are trying to do what Apple did with its connection changes, since the Train Stop I bought with this has the same new connectors and adaptors. I would like to recommend this set, but the connector issue is inconvenient enough that I suggest parents look elsewhere for a turntable to add to your child’s collection. ... show more

This is a big building that allows 5 engines to be parked in it. It also has a place for the workmen to "hang out" above the trains. My son loves playing with it. Some concerns are as follows. 1) It is part of the new Wood track system from Fisher Price's (FP). We needed adapters for it to work with the current tracks we have. It came with two of the four adapters we needed. I read somewhere that you can just ask FP for more adapters. I instead found a pack of four (8 total, 4M and 4F) for sale giving me plenty of extras. But it would be nice to have enough adapters for each spot this set requires with no extra work. For those that don't know what the big change with the tracks from FP (I had to look it up). They changed how each end connects. This makes it so instead of a M/F connection system (which everybody else uses), you have a connection that will connect with either side of another track. No small M-M or F-F adapters needed. That is pretty cool. Unfortunately, nobody else has adopted it yet, so adapters are needed with current systems. It is a big change from another system that has been used for decades, so most people are up in arms. My only complaint, is the FP track is real expensive. 2) The other change with the Wood product line from FP means smaller engines and tenders. We have older trains that have tenders like talking Gordon and Hiro. They are way too big for the turn table (with their tender). Another factor to consider. There are a few spots where the turn table can be facing a door and the longer engine can fit inside the shed without turning. 3) The doors on the sheds can swing really loose. They don't lock in place when closed. Sometimes that makes it hard to have all the doors closed because the loose door swings open again and blocks its neighbors door from closing. These are all minor things to just be aware of. None are a deal breaker for me. ... show more

My son loves this! He loves that he can pretend the trains are doing what they do on the show and “go to sleep” inside Tidmouth Sheds. It’s pretty durable and really a neat addition to the wooden tracks. We did buy the adapter pieces. I think Tidmouth Sheds came with two adapters and we bought two more per recommendation of the other reviewers of this. It was one of his favorite birthday gifts! ... show more

Worth every penny!!! For anyone who has a traditional Thomas train set, this roundhouse is a must have! Huge!!! We started buying the wooden Thomas train set almost 15yrs ago, and it has now been passed down to our 4yr old grandbaby. So, while the occasional additions are rather costly, the set has aged very well over the years, although emphasis has always been placed on treating it kindly. The roundhouse itself is, w/out doubt, the best addition by far. Having a starting point to build from that allows for 4 different routes has encouraged very creative track builds. Thankfully it also came with 4 track adapters. Lol, after buying another 100 pieces of track, our old train set is my grandson's favorite "new" toy! ... show more

The Fischer Price Tidmouth Sheds is on sale at $20 off and well worth the money! Not only is it well made that features both integrated plastic and the older wooden train system, it offers a second floor on the sheds with different living compartments for the little blue director to sleep, eat, bathe, and work at his controls while overlooking trains as the enter or leave the sheds. These extra features including a water spicket to clean engines and a hoist to lift them offer expanded imaginative activity opportunities for toddlers. Exceeded expectations! I do find it strange that it comes with only 2 connectors to wood track. When there are 4 connections on the round turn table. Thankfully my husband does woodworking and made 2 more! I attached a picture. The 2 that come with the set are plastic.
