  • For my cat's litter box
I put two bricks in my cat's litter box so that he will not knock it over. These were ideal and heavy for the way that I needed to use them.

  • Solid Brick
Got these for my pizza oven. It is a portable oven that is built more like a grill. Was hoping to do some baking but my oven didn't have great heat retention. I now have 4 of these bricks across the back of my oven and 4 others that are smaller down the side. These are to help absorb and maintain heat on the back wall standing vertically. They held up in 700 degree oven without crack or issue. They are accurate to description and are solid and sturdy. They weigh a bit more then my other pair, but did not crack or break and were shipped well and did not have issues with them. I really like these bricks and hoping this gets me 1 step closer to baking in my oven. ... show more

  • Heavy and solid. Great for higher wear areas
The bricks came well packaged, surrounded by foam inserts. Only the slightest signs of wear (small chips) were visible along some of the edges when they arrived but they were still perfectly serviceable. If you are used to the lighter weight refractory bricks (usually white) the difference in weight will be very noticeable. These ceramic clay bricks are much heavier. I like to use this type of brick for places in my forge or kiln that will see a little more wear. This would include places where you might rest your work being forged or fired from steel knives or tools to ceramics. These clay bricks, in my opinion, can handle the occasional scraping much better that the low density refractory bricks that make up the firing chamber. This type of brick is also great for heat retention which makes it great for a kiln. Those highly porous bricks may have better insulating properties and be easier to cut but these high density bricks are very durable. I think a combination of brick types works very well. All-in-all, these are some great bricks with a myriad of uses and I totally recommend. ... show more

  • Heavy fire rated brick
This firebrick is dimensionally thick enough to be used for many applications such as fireplaces, pizza ovens, outdoor smoke pits, and kamado grills. I used the bricks for a additional spacer between smoking grates and levels in order to create another gap for double indirect smoking while also helping to retain heat. This worked very well in my kamado setup. The reason I gave this a 4 star review rather than a 5 star review was that the bricks had a few large chips out of them and several small chips when unpackaged. The bricks are very heavy so certainly the Amazon drivers tend to be less gentle with them during shipping. Better packaging would lessen this situation. If they were installed in mortar in a fireplace or pizza oven with fire rated mortar then the chips would also be filled in. These are good fire bricks. ... show more
