  • Never to old to learn something new!
Call it dieting, life style changes, or just eating healthy, the options for choosing a plan to achieve your goals are endless. I know, because at age 70 I have tried almost all of them! Habits are hard to change at any age but give me an easy to follow plan - sort of cookbook approach, and I'm interested. "Fill Your Plate, Lose the Weight" is an intriguing title. Being able to eat more is a concept that is appealing, and this book encourages that philosophy. It's all about food choices. The 21-day plan, along with accompanying shopping lists for each week, makes the process turnkey and is intriguing as an experiment to see if it "works." I am also a big fan of Weight Watchers (WW) and this book makes the conversion to points relatively easy as all the recipes include the nutritional counts. The daily menus fit in very nicely with the WW program. I have also started following the author, Sarah Mirkin, on her online website as she is constantly adding new menu items and tips for achieving a healthy lifestyle in addition to healthy eating. P.S. I had to buy a second book as my thirteen-year-old granddaughter "borrowed my first copy. She is an athlete and is always looking for new meal ideas that contribute to her being healthy and physically fit! ... show more

  • Great Recipes!
This book has great recipes in it that are easy to make with ingredients that are healthy and that you would normally have. No need to buy odd items. My husband and I used these recipes after trying a keto diet (which was horrible and made us feel horrible) and it was a wonderful change. You are full after you eat, which is important to me when dieting. You do not have to count calories, and we did lose about 15 lbs. without starving ourselves. The only downside is that I wish there were more recipes in this book so that we could have continued on this diet for a longer period of time. After a while, it got boring and monotonous, and hard to keep eating the same things. I looked on the internet and there is not another book like this that I could find. Bummer! I would definitely recommend this instead of a keto diet! Also, I wanted to mention that having it spiral bound is wonderful! Easy to set down on the counter and use without needing a paperweight to hold it open and having it flip closed. ... show more

  • Shopping lists have errors
The book has good photos and I love that it is spiral which makes it easier to use while cooking. The recipes are simple, but some use ingredients that aren't available in my small town grocery (a few I had to google). This plan is heavily vegetarian (not totally), and for those of us who aren't, it's a little off-putting. When it's not completely vegetarian, it's usually either poultry or fish. In 21 days there was only 1 beef meal. Not saying that like it's a bad thing, just personally, fish makes me gag. Some of the recipes, however, fish and chicken (or turkey) are interchangeable. So there's that. Take a vitamin. The major drawback is that the weekly shopping lists provided have errors. I realize that you can't buy just 2 lettuce leaves, but if you follow the daily menu exactly your shopping list is short in some areas and too wasteful in others. I ended up putting all the ingredients one by one in a spreadsheet and entering them in my recipe app that combines amounts before I could get a accurate list. If the authors go to the trouble of creating a shopping list it ought to be correct. For those who don't mind hanging out in the grocery store every day, then nevermind. In the daily menus where it asks you to create a meal from a recipe elsewhere in the book, it often says to double the recipe to use later. But all of the recipes are written for 2 or more servings, some as many as 6, while the daily menu is written for 1 serving. Before you trust the instructions, you should count up the times a serving is needed. All that said, this plan is infinitely better than the no-refrigeration-needed-because it's-mostly-preservatives-meal-in-a-pouch plan that costs an arm and a leg. ... show more

  • I gained weight using the receipes
I was excited to see a book with an actual meal plan mapped out. It was simple to use. Although seemed very high on dairy intake. So I followed the plan regiously for 21 days. I weighed out each portion via a scale. I ended up gaining weight at a rate of 2lbs per week rather than losing as I had hoped. I know many others have positive reviews but it didn't help me as I had hoped. ... show more

  • Love that it's spiral bound!! The layout is the best I've seen!
I love that the book is spiral bound. It's laid out simplistically and very, very well too! This is definitely a plan that won't be difficult to stick with eating. It will require me to be more organized about my eating, but that's a good thing! There are no fancy gimmicky foods to buy; it's just normal foods that don't cost an arm and a leg. I was so excited to get the book. AND< I can't believe I'm saying this; I'm excited to start this "diet" plan (actually it's more like a way of eating, in my opinion!) I hope it's what I need to finally lose these stubborn 10lbs while not feeling like I'm starving to death! ... show more

  • Great weight loss ideas
started in February and stuck to it to the letter. Lost 16 pounds so far. Never hungry due to eating 6 times a day. Good plan and it works.
