  • Great Heavy duty mic arm
Size: BM66 Black
First, I have to say that this is a heavy-duty mic arm. When I say it is heavy-duty, I mean it is well-built and heavy compared to my other mic arm. The travel and adjustability of the mic arm take a little to get used to as the joints start stiff, but after using it over the last few weeks, the joints have gotten better, and adjusting the angle on the fly seems a lot easier than when I first installed it. My daughter predominantly uses this mic arm with a reasonably heavy mic that weighs approximately 2.5 lbs, and the mic arm holds the position steady no matter how much she moves the arm and at any angle. The setup is straightforward: clamp the base to the desk and drop in the mic arm. The included mic arm clamp can accommodate a desk just over two inches. The mic arm also does not fully pivot independently. This means that the whole arm/both pieces move when adjusting the angle, but this keeps the microphone in the same place when moving the arm. The ball head can rotate a full 360° and vertically 180°. There are also channels to help hide and guide the cables, and the included microphone screw adapters can accommodate just about any microphone. The joints have a removable plastic cover,s which reveals the Allan screws that can be adjusted for tension with the included Allan wrench. However, as previously stated, the joints are stiff from the factory but loosened up with use. Overall, this is a good microphone boom arm. It is heavy-duty and is now used almost daily. ... show more

  • Quite Nice
Size: BM66T Black(With Extension Tube)
Looking to improve my desk set up, I found this mic boom and decided to give it a shot. I needed a way to quickly move the mic out of the way when I wasn’t using it. I use the mic to narrate my YouTube DIY videos so I need to be able to move it out of the way while working on my computer or in between takes. I have the Shure SM7B installed on this boom and it hasn’t had any issues handling it or the cable using the cable management that’s built in. The boom looks great as well; I don’t mind having it on camera, if necessary. The cable management hides the cable (for the most part) so you don’t really see it at all. The movement of the pivot and swivel points is quite smooth and feels professional. It was quite easy to set up out of the box. Just clamp it to the desk, run the cable, screw on the mic and you’re up and running in about 5-10 minutes. I purchased the one with the extension tube so I could decide whether I wanted to use it or not (since it’s removable). This allowed me to choose whether or not to mount the boom behind one of my monitors or off to the side and out of the way. Really cool boom. ... show more

  • Sturdier Than Expected
Size: BM66T Black(With Extension Tube)
This mechanical arm / adjustable microphone boom is way sturdier then I expected. The component end is made of a matte black metal that feels solid and offers plenty of resistance and is then clad in removable plastic plates that cover the joints. Rotation is handled at the base with a sleeved peg design that includes set screws for tightening the assembly into place and adjust the amount of force required to move the arm. The base clamp is fairly chunky unit that allows for about 3 inches of adjustment and includes a wide bottom screw handle that is easily secured into place. There are a few things that keep this from being a 5/5. First, the arm itself is a bit overly stiff until it’s been worked in for a bit, and at least on my unit the two sub arms that form it do not move fully independently. Also while the protective foam on the clamp is very cushy and protective it is a bit too soft and was damaged on my initial test of the device. That’s not exactly a huge issue as the adhesive foam was easily removed and replaced with something a bit sturdier with a bit of glue. In my case, the clamp was also not big enough for my desk, but I won’t knock off points for that. For information, however, the clamp is around 4 inches tall (adjustable), by 2 inches deep and 1 /2 inches wide. Use that as you will! 4/5 Stars. ... show more

  • Just one thing would make it perfect
Size: BM66T Black(With Extension Tube)
To be honest, I really didn't need this. I was fairly happy with my Mount It arm, and my FIfine mic was doing great as well. When this popped up to be able to review, I thought why not, it'll match the mic. I'm very fortunate to have been able to order this. It just so happens, that with the extension tube installed, the bottom pivot point is just the perfect height to clear my Edifier speakers on 15" metal stands. Like they were made for each other. This meant I could move the boom mount further to the corner, and clean up some wiring immensely. It was only a few more inches wide, but it makes all the difference in the world to have more room at your desk and your personal space. The boom motion is a bit different than I am used to, but I am working through it. There's just one thing that would make it perfect - hiding the cord at the middle pivot point. You don't want to run it inside the hexagon, because it'll pinch the cord. So other than just slightly seeing more cord, I really like this thing. So much so, that I upgraded to another Fifine in appreciation. ... show more

  • Excellently designed arm, just one thing would have made this 10/10 instead of 9.5/10
Size: BM66T Black(With Extension Tube)
Fifine, please, if you make a version 2 of this arm. Put some sort of clip or cable cover for the middle joint, having the cable just loose up there is just so annoying to look at. Otherwise, I will sing the praises of this mic arm until the cows come home. Super suuuuper easy to set up, and the rubber covered cable channel, honestly, genius. It looks so well flush fitted that it looks like one solid continuous piece. Whoever designed this thing did an amazing job. The actuation is smooth, and the arm stays put at the angle you leave it at, no fussing no bothering. And it even holds up m pretty heavy mic, filters and all. Doesn't sag. Just locks in and stays put until I need to move it, and just a gentle push and it adjusts effortlessly. This is hands down my new favorite mic arm. I will be getting another for my recording setup since this one is now a permanent resident at my main workstation. ... show more

  • Looks good. Strong.
Size: BM66T Black(With Extension Tube)
This is a well-made mic boom that I use for podcasting and video. Has great articulation and stays in place where you leave it like it’s supposed to. Hides the wire under a cover that’s easier to remove and reinstall. Solid material and construction and value.
