This is a decent rod and reel for the price. I was catching bluegill and really small largemouth bass with no problem. Finally hooked up a 7lb catfish and could barely real it in. The plastic reel isn't made for bigger fish. Locks up or breaks.

This reel is complete junk. I took my son out with it after he got it for his birthday last week. It kept unspooling and getting jammed up in gear assembly. I tried 10lb, 8lb and 6lb test lines while we were out fishing. Every single time it did it. Now we cant get the gear assembly to release the line. Definitely made poorly and a waste of money. Would have done a 0 star review but it wouldn't allow it. ... show more
