I'm a beginner guitarist and have been learning on my electric Fender Squire that I've had for a few years. With the pandemic, I started to spend more time practicing. However, I've always loved the sound of the acoustic guitar and the fingerstyle technique. I had an old acoustic guitar from Estabaan (the infomercial one). The strings and set up was so uncomfortable that I could never play for more than 5 minutes and it wasn't fun. I learned about guitar action (the distance between the string and the fretboard) and looked up guitars with low action that are good for beginners. I landed on the Yamaha 800 series and the Fender CD60S series guitars which are good for beginners and intermediates. Watching many Youtube videos I heard many people say the Yamaha sounds deeper and the Fender has a crisper tone but in the end, what was most important was the ease of play so I would spend more time with it and improve. The CD60SCE is a little slimmer than the CD60S and has the cut-out design I like and has the ability to be plugged into an amp. It sounds amazing as an acoustic and as a plugin, but overall I like the acoustic sound the best. I can't put this thing down!!!! The package offered was really nice and I love having a hard case to protect my new guitar so I can take it when I travel, camping or visit someone's house without risk of damage. I definitely see myself taking it with me everywhere because I don't like going more than a day without playing it. If you're looking for an easy to play acoustic guitar with a great sound and built-in electronics with a case and some extras, this is the one. ... show more

Definitely a beginner-friendly instrument. I have been playing guitar since 6th grade but I never had a decently-built guitar. My 1st acoustic was an Ovation copy(Applause). Great booming sound but very difficult to play....aluminum fretboard and very difficult to keep chords down. When I started playing again, I figured that, this time, I would get a guitar that is easier to play. This guitar is amazing. All the runs I used to struggle with, I can do them with more ease and dexterity. The sound is really special, although I haven't used the electric part yet. The "feel" of this guitar is so rich......my Applause had a plastic neck, and this one is wooden. For some reason, it just feels more rich and comfortable. So far, I give it 5 stars.....for a beginner player. I'm sure that for $1000-1500, I could get more benefit....but only if I was a player that could appreciate that. For now, I'm more than happy with my guitar. ... show more

The guitar is great! It came fast and well-protected. It was significantly less expensive than the local Guitar Center was offering AND the guy at GC was a total condescending butt to me and my daughter when we went in to look. The only tiny gripe, and not really a gripe, just something to keep in mind, is that the case is pretty heavy duty. As a result, it's crazy heavy! My skinny-armed 14-year-old daughter was having a heck of a time wrestling it around so I ordered her a gig bag and all is well. She likes having both options. Pros: Great value for the price Comes with case and other accessories Sound quality is pretty good Built in tuner works good Holds tune well Cons: A bit of string vibration on E low tones Definitely switch to higher quality strings than supplied Overall: I would recommend this for a beginner or for a coffee shop player or even a backup instrument. With the built in preamp it's ready to gig. The price for this set is really quite good. The case is really a plus. Most cases of this quality will cost around $100 so if you sub that from the total the guitar is really inexpensive. Now don't go expecting Martin or Taylor with this, but it's probably the best pound for pound that you can buy. With the solid top you can expect it to sound better over the years. ... show more

I purchased the Fender CD-140SCE right after Christmas because I was trying to learn guitar before that on a cheap one that was killing my fingers from the action being too high. What a world of difference this guitar makes when it comes to wanting to play guitar. I can sit there for hours now and practice on this effortlessly and it's flawless. Started taking actual guitar lessons about two weeks ago and the instructor was impressed by the guitar as well. Told me that he is typically a Yamaha guy, but was very impressed by what he saw. As a beginner, I can say it's a pleasure to play it and I look forward to taking it out of the case everyday. ... show more
