  • HOW TO REMOVE / ADD AIR & WATER !!!
Color: Gold Size: 10x13 In
This is a Very Affordable and picturesque Sand Art Picture but, ALL air, sand and water pictures require routine maintenance and adjustments in order for them to perform and "flow" properly. In order to fine tune their performance, you Most Definitely will have to stick a 28 gauge (blunt point head to avoid pricking yourself) Hypodermic Needle thru the silicone seal that goes around the entire sand portrait to add or remove air (and on occasion, water as well since these two compounds gradually expand or evaporate over time) to slow down or speed up the rate (and effect) of the sand flow. These needles can be easily purchased from other Sand art picture companies at a very affordable price online if you Google Sand Art Pictures because, this one (as well as many other's in this price range) don't include the needle that is needed to make them work properly ! To make the necessary adjustments, you simply tilt the entire picture up on it's corner allowing the sand to settle at the bottom. While holding the frame at this angle, you will see all the air bubbles gather into the corner. This is where you stick the needle thru the silicone and into those "air bubbles". A tiny amount of silicone may become lodged in the needle when inserting it so, always leave a tiny amount of air inside your needle when going thru the silicone into the bubbles. Then, push down on the needle plunger dislodging any possible silicone. Now (with the needle still inside) slowly pull up on the plunger removing air as you go. To add or remove water, follow this same example BUT, insert the needle into the side of the picture without tilting the frame up at all and, avoid sticking the needle thru any sand or air bubbles entirely while you add or remove water. You'll have to experiment as to how much air or water you remove or add. Every picture responds differently and everybody likes a different "flow speed". Make sure you safely & securely shake and tilt your picture after making adjustments in order to make those bubbles tiny which helps the sand fall thru them more easily. It is also recommended that you allow (and assist if needed) the sand to fall a series of 3 times to see weather it's flowing consistently before making any further adjustments. The purchase of a needle and time spent fine tuning the sand flow is a small but routinely necessary task that's required to make these facinating 3D pictures come to life on your wall or table. I now own about five of these from several different sellers and have had a lot of opportunity to understand what makes them perform at their best. As a final note, you should only remove or, add water as an absolute last resort because, the water inside these sand art pictures contains a detergent that makes the water retain bubbles and, gives the sand boyincy. The exact formula is not known and therefore, if done incorrectly, you will permanently ruin your sand art picture !!! ... show more

  • It’s ok
Color: Gold Size: 10x13 In
I purchased my first one two years ago but was broken accidentally. I order a second but the air bubble is to big so I have to keep tapping to keep the flow going, I saw the large sized offered so I purchased another hoping it would drop sand more like the first one, but I still have to keep tapping to keep the mesmerizing flow going. I still love them just wish they both had better consistent flow. ... show more

  • Stunningly Beautiful
I bought the larger size in the Coffee Gold color. I wasn't sure about the high-ish price, so I kept coming back and looking at it several times before I bought it, but based on other reviews I took a chance, and it really is beautiful and sturdy. The sand is packed in kind of hard at first, and I had to shake it all loose, which took 5-10 minutes. It also had bubbles at first, but those eventually worked themselves out. It's very soothing to look watch and beautiful in my living room. ... show more

  • A good gift
Color: Gold Size: 7x9 In
My brother is awful to buy gifts for. He's one of those people who has everything (or just goes out and buys what he needs for himself). Typically, when he opens gifts, he'll give you a polite "Thanks!" and set the package aside where you know it's probably going to remain for the next couple of months. When my brother opened up this package, he actually went "Oh!" in surprise, took it out, and observed it from multiple angles. It was immediately set up and put on his nightstand for display. I was thrilled! So yeah, it makes for a good gift! (Also, it arrived in great packaging, great quality, the glass was neat, and the sand already creating unique patterns - well worth the buy) ... show more

  • One good turn deserves another!
Color: Gold Size: 7x9 In
The device functions like an hourglass but sandwiched between two panes of easy-to-clean glass, three different densities of granules paint unique geomorphology while you watch. I bought the gold Sandscape for myself and an indigo one for a friend. Both create stunning, relaxing kinetic images which can form with or without observer input. I prefer a "portrait" orientation for the Sandscape to the "landscape" shown in the image--resulting in less of a footprint on a small workspace and longer, more intricate image formation--but both orientations work. ... show more

  • Didn't Move Smoothly
Color: Coffee Gold Size: 7x9 In
The glitter in this was pretty, but it didn't move consistently with the sand; it just floated around on its own in the middle until the sand had settled. And the sand didn't move very well at all. There were so many bubbles that, even after moving the item all directions, there still wasn't much room for more than a tiny trickle to come through. More stressful than relaxing. I also thought the frame was so obnoxiously shiny that it distracted from the picture. ... show more

  • Does nothing
Color: Blue Size: 7x9 In
Too much air. I flipped it last night, and I checked it this morning and it has done nothing. Sand does not fall unless I move it around. You're supposed to flip it and let it set not move it around.
