  • Best value for the money
Size: 81Keys Color: BlackRed
I bought this keyboard a few months ago and I take it EVERYWHERE. It's small enough to fit in my 14" laptop bag, It supports 3 bluetooth profiles, a wired connection, or a Wireless USB connector that slides into the back to hold it when not in use. The bluetooth overrides the wired connection so if I want to charge it in a different computer while using it for another, easy! And setting one of the profiles to that computer means that I don't have to flick the switch on the back. I just hold fn and hit the number (1-3) for the bluetooth profile. The backlights are gorgeous, the keys feel great, and as clickity clackity as they feel, they're really quiet. I originally bought some purple keycaps to go with my love of purple stuff but they didn't have all the right keys in the right sizes and putting different caps on some of the special keys resulted in the keys being different heights since the cap manufacturer expected them to be in different places than I put them. I lived with this for a while until I found a set of low profile caps: XVX Low Profile Keycaps, 118 Keys... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BVYV67QS?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share Every single key is represented in this pack, the lower profile makes them even more portable, and if I want to tear them off and put them in a different layout (like Dvorak or Colemak) it's trivial. Together, it makes for the perfect keyboard. And the feet on the bottom not only allow you to prop it up on an angle but has two different levels to lift the back. The smaller feet are recessed into the larger feet or you can flip them both up and have the keyboard lie flat. I also immediately unsnapped the bezel around the keys and painted that purple with spraypaint and it looks awesome. Use painters tape and an exacto knife to protect the labels for the switch on the back and it is just fantastic. I even got the light on my mouse to match the color for the keyboard backlights and it looks amazing. My only complaint is that it's easy if you miss the key there's very little room before your light touch of the nearby key will actuate it but that comes with the territory of mechanical keyboards. On the other hand, it also feels REALLY solid and hefty which makes it feel way more expensive than it was. The reduced footprint was a huge plus as well since I have a keyboard & mouse tray that's too small for a mouse and full size keyboard. My only caveats are that there are three buttons that are super easy to activate and make for a good feature but can cause confusion when your modifier keys are switched or the windows key suddenly doesn't work. Fn+F9 disables the Windows key, and Fn+M/N switches between Windows mode and Mac mode. So if it starts behaving strangely in that sense, try those. It's only happened a couple times because I forgot to turn it off before putting it into my bag. Overall, I give this keyboard a 5/5 as a beginner to the mechanical keyboard stuff. I love this keyboard and it would be my first recommendation to anyone starting out with customizable mechanical keyboards. It's hands down the best value for the money spent. I have zero regrets about buying this keyboard. ... show more

  • Phenomenal mechanical keyboard for the price
Size: 98Keys Color: WhiteBlue
The IROK FE98 Pro is an extremely nice mechanical keyboard that is leagues beyond many other stock keyboards at this price. The build quality of the keyboard is great. It is sturdy, built well, and the keyboard is actually quite surprisingly heavy. The heavy weight of the keyboard is due to the fact that there are two pre-installed layers of silicone sound dampening inside the case. There is one layer of silicone in between the plate and the PCB which acts as like plate foam and switch padding (as there is a thin layer of silicone underneath each of the switches too.) The other layer sits underneath the PCB and pretty much fills out the entirety of the case, massively reducing hollowness. There are keyboards twice the price of this one with none of these features included. Also, for those who care about polling rates, this keeb polls at 1000hz/1ms wired, and 500hz/2ms when using the 2.4ghz dongle, which is not too shabby. The switches used in the keyboard are basic IROK-branded red switches. They work great and aren't super scratchy, but they are very clearly stock switches and have a very predictable feel and sound. I actually liked the way they felt as they are quite bouncy, possibly due to the silicone padding underneath. I did end up replacing the switches though with more premium lubed ones and it took the keyboard to the next level. To be clear, you do not need to do this at all, but as a keyboard enthusiast, I found the experience to just be down right amazing with my preferred switches. The stock plate-mounted stabilizers are also good. No rattling whatsoever, and they are lubed from the factory. The keycaps are also good. I ordered the white and blue variant, which doesn't come with shinethrough legends unfortunately, but otherwise they feel thick and sturdy. The legends on the keycaps are a light blue color which can sometimes be difficult to read in certain lighting conditions, but the whole white, blue, and gray color scheme is overall pleasant to look at. I do have to mention though that the some of the keycaps are different than what is shown in the picture. Namely, the spacebar doesn't have the line on it, and the '+' keycap on the numpad is actually gray rather than blue like in the picture. This isn't a complaint though, I quite like the design of the keycaps regardless. The IROK badge next under the small shift key is replaceable and my keyboard came with a silver one to replace it with which is nice in case I decide to completely switch up the color scheme, though I wouldn't do it since the bottom housing of the keyboard is in the same blue color too so I would stay within that color scheme personally. As for customization, I haven't tried the software out as I heard there is some sus stuff going on with that. I did not attempt to use it so I can't speak to it, but for my use case I don't need it anyway. The keyboard has the standard range of built in RGB effects, but I use mine without the lighting as I like the look of it like that. As for modding, there is very little to no room for adding custom sound dampening materials, at least while keeping the silicone dampening in the case, but honestly you do not need to mod this keyboard at all. The dual silicone sound dampening that is customized specifically for this board is perfectly good enough. Overall, this keyboard is just plain awesome. I love it and will continue to use it every day. It's by far the best stock keyboard I've used at this price point and I fully recommend it. ... show more

  • Good Budget Keyboard
Size: 81Keys Color: Black
Edit: I will update my rating from 3/5 to 4/5 as the LED itself is bright but the stock keycap blocks most of it. I would recommend buying a better shine through keycap to get the most out of this keyboard's LEDs. Still not too sure about the software but you don't really need it. TLDR: Nicely built keyboard, have a "creamy" (quiet/thocky) sound profile due to foam, feels nice to type on, doesn't look too gamer-ish (which I like), and keycaps shine through not so great. Would recommend tape modification for extra "thock" sound profile. I'll start off with the bad thing about this keyboard is that the software/drivers seems very suspicious, I would look up "MechTech Keyboards" YouTube video about this keyboard. The backlight of the keyboard RGB seem very dim even at peak brightness. The battery isn't anything to write home about either. This is a good budget keyboard. Looks sleek, feels premium, and sounds very nice (quiet switches). I got the keyboard on a flash sale (got it for around 45$ +tax). If you're looking for a budget keyboard this is definitely the one, but I would wait until it goes on sale. But, if you care about customizing the RGB or anything related to needing the software/driver I would definitely look elsewhere. ... show more
