The outer shell is soft like suede. There are ties on either side that you can tighten a little bit. There is no closure which is a bummer. I think I would like it more if it had buttons or something the close the front. It is a heavy jacket so it may keep you warm even though it is open in the front. It has large front pockets. I am always nervous about the arm width when buying coats due to big arms. This coat actually fits nicely. Not too snug in the arms. Read the size chart or guideline. I guess I knew there was a drawstring waist on this coat but I didn’t really think it through. It’s just not my favorite. I feel like I have a lab coat or a robe on. The sleeves make it modern and cute, the fit is nice. The quality is good. Simply not my style.

I got this as a gift for my daughter who lives in SoCal. She is a bit under 5'10" and very fit. I ordered size small and was concerned that it would be too short for her. She is very happy with the fit as the hem goes below her knees and fits well. The coat is stylish and warm. She believes it will work well for when it gets a little cooler during late fall and winter. The design of the coat is open front with a drawstring closure. This feature may make it harder to wear for extended periods in freezing cold weather but works well for her neighborhood. The material is sturdy and the coat is finished very well with precise stitching. The color matches well with many of her outfits. Be warned that this trench coat probably isn't the most typical thing to be seen in public with. The large collar can bring others under the impression that you're a the villain who just escaped a fantasy novel, or Edward Cullen waltzing down the street stalking Bella. That may have been a tad dramatic, but it isn't something you'll see on most when you walk outside, to say the least. However, if you're not one to mind stares, then this is the coat for you. The moment upon putting it on my shoulders, it felt heavy and warm and protective. Like it was a shield of warmth and thickness preventing any monstrous human beings from reaching me. (I'm an introvert.) It's kind of like having a heavy blanket on you at all times. The material is exceptional. Both inside and out have a durable and reliable feel. The inside is silky and smooth and the outside is soft and comfy. I love the big pockets and the white stripes along the sleeves. This is very nice. The material is worth the price. You just have to make sure you're not overdoing the fit. Wearing something simple with it suits it best and makes it appear less costumey. Don't go wearing fingerless gloves and masks unless it's Halloween ;D ... show more

    • I wanted to love this so bad, but its not for me

When I saw the picture for this coat, I wanted to love it so badly! I love pea coats, I’ve had several different pea coats over the years, and I thought this had such a cute, unique style, I just had to try it out. Unfortunately, this coat just isn’t for me. When I tried it on, my husband laughed and wanted to know what the heck I was wearing. He said it looked like a giant overcoat and I kind of looked like Uncle Fester. I got discouraged when I heard that, so I took the coat off and let it sit for a few days so I could think about it. I tried the coat on again today, thinking maybe my husband was just being a jerk, but no, this coat does not look good on me. Rather, I make this cute coat look terrible D: I am short, 5’3”, so this already long coat is longer on me than it probably is for average height women. I picked the large size, I probably could have gotten away with the medium, but I don’t think it would have made that much of a difference in length. One thing I really did not like about this coat was the sleeves. I know in most of the pictures, the sleeves are pulled up, to either half length or 3/4 length sleeves, but I did see a picture with the sleeves all the way down and it was still cute. The sleeves on the coat are actually pretty short, even with the cuffs pulled down all the way, it looks super awkward. They’d probably look even shorter if I got the smaller size, so I don’t know what’s going on with that. Overall, if you’re not built like a short meatball with legs, I would recommend this super cute coat to you! It is heavy and well made. The lining is smooth and comfortable, the outer material is heavy, and looks really absorbent so I wouldn’t wear it out in the rain unless you want to wear a 50lb coat. It feels warm, but I don’t think you could use this as a full winter coat replacement. Anyways, I am super disappointed in myself for not being able to look cute in this coat. Buy the coat, look cute, make me jealous lol ... show more
