The color is not black and white. The black is a washed off gray. Look at the picture with the black slipper to see the difference.

These rugs are not woven with black and white yarn but are dyed after weaving. The result is a washed out black color. White fine threads throughout the rug also create their own muted pattern as they do not take the dye. Overall, they look very cheap.
