We have had our automatic door installed for a month now and it has been wonderful. We had lost a chicken every now and then when a raccoon would enter their coop. To avoid that from happening again we would close their coop door every night and open it every morning. That meant we needed to be home soon after dark to close the door and get up early to be sure to open the door, this was very inconvenient to keep up with every day! This door has been so awesome! We set the timer and it has closed and opened right on time. I still check to that all the chickens are in and make sure I see them outside each morning, but that can be done on my time schedule not the chickens! I highly recommend this door! ... show more

    • It works just fantascially!
I was really worried about installing this as cutting a hole in my new shed (aka chicken coop) was terrifying as I had those thoughts of "what if I cut it out wrong?". Measure twice, cut once and it fit beautifully. Had an issue with the door not closing until it was discovered the 'eye' was too close to the unit so a simple adjustment took care of that issue. Since I'm not going to use the timer, as the remotes are perfect for my use as I worry the timer might lock out a chicken who isn't quite ready to go inside yet, I wanted to program it accordingly. It was a bit tough to find in the manual how to stop the timer from opening and closing it. It wasn't all that apparent so my suggestion would be to have a separate category for people like me who don't want to utilize the timer. Other than that, easy assembly. Kind of sucks that they don't include the batteries to the remotes as when you think you're all ready to go, you find out that there are no batteries and it's then off to the store before nightfall. Really guys? Kind of a cheap shot for a nice opener. Other than that, everything is really nice. ... show more

    • Easy set up, almost too easy!
The only issue we have had is with the light sensor close setting. I have it on the darkest setting, but it still manages to lock out a bird or 2, sometimes. Some of that is they are still getting used to the new door. The other issue is the light sensor is pointed away from the setting sky towards the shadow of a tree. We just use the time setting for now until they are all used to the door. Battery powered auto tea light candles inside the coop have also helped getting the birds to come in and settle. Got this to protect my chickens from predators at night, we have problems with fox in the area, works great if the power doesn’t go out, we sometimes have power surges, lose the power for a split second then back on, but I have to reprogram the door each time this happens. Luckily this door comes with solar as well just need to purchase the solar panel for it….will fix that problem! ... show more

We have had trouble with the door opening and closing on occasion. And it needs to be extremely dependable, chickens are a living thing. If we want to go away for a day or two, we have to be 100% certain that the door will open and close when it’s supposed to. We tried calling customer service and never got a reply. This coop door is great. I love how the doors light up when its opening or closing. I will use the remote from my office window if I want to check if the door is closed and having it light up lets me see it through the shade cloth. Very helpful. Easy to instal and instruction for set up short concise and easy to follow. 1st weekend installed we were out of town and the power in the neighborhood went out. Battery back up kicked in and no worries!!! I hope it lasts for years to come!
