As some said, it does throw some shadows if in the middle of a large room, but mine is mounted at the top of my stairway, so no issue for me. Having no glass panes means No tedious cleaning, it doesn't get dusty either! If the bulbs were dusty, I'd just wipe them quick. The 'Edison Antique' bulbs are LED and use 12 watts total, but throw amazing, old school warm,yellow light. They usually last for many years too, and don't get hot either, just warm. I stand impressed with this fixture, and would buy another if needed! Install was a bit tricky, as you need to juggle the fixture, the mount plate and the wires while you connect it, then tuck it all in neatly while trying to line up the dual mounting holes, Once done though, no need to do it again. The ground screw/strap deal can be tricky for a novice, but take a look at the pics in the instructions and you'll get it done. Enjoy, it's a great light. ... show more
