Out of the package there is a film of oil protecting the scissors which is easily wiped off. They are are hefty and feel good in the hand. I bought these to cut lightweight chrome tanned/oil tanned leathers and they perform great. They are very sharp and the fit and finish of them is excellent. I used to work at a company decades ago that made custom shears for companies that cut plastic and we had a patented way of making the blades that was so sharp it was brilliant. Anyway, these shears reminded me of that. They are superb in that they can cut paper without thinking but to cut plastic or thin plastic bag material is amazing and honestly the real test of quality precision made shearing instruments. I was looking for a top quality pair of sheers to use for my many projects around the house....but these scissors are so sharp they literally cut the space time continuum! I didn't even need to hire a lawyer to get a divorce .....I just used these bad boys and cut off every relationship I've ever had all the way back to my crush on my kindergarten teacher! I pull these sheers out of their little box and North Korea was ready to sign a peace treaty! I feel like Luke Skywalker with his brand new light saber every time I get to use these scissors! I find myself wondering through home depot now just looking for random things to cut with these sheers just so I can use them again! Talk about comfort, grip and durability! Oh....and I stopped carrying my firearm now too. Cuz I used these scissors to make myself a nice fancy leather holster to fit these sheers into and now I carry these bad boys with me everywhere I go!
