You can tell if something is going to be heavy duty sometimes by how heavy it may be. I bought two of these items and their boxes were heavy. Now assembling these bookcases took more than a half an hour each. To complete both of them was a all day affair. That’s because every time I started on one, I took the instructions book and I counted every piece I was supposed to have and checked to make sure every piece was to my liking. The instruction pamphlet is very helpful, but could use a little bit of clarification in some parts for anyone who usually does not put things together. The screw for the drawer handles are too short. The pegs that screw in or out to level out the bookcase should be longer. There should be other color options for the metal frames and faux wood. Some pieces didn’t make sense to have as part of this item, and the screws that lock on to the ‘c’ screws they lock but can be loose. But all in all this item is all the round made well and sturdy. Just make sure if have a low volt power drill to help you make things go faster and tighten the screws a bit better, and a leveler to make sure the rails for the drawers are leveled out. I feel that the instruction pamphlet could be revised to clarify certain parts, and add things you may need. ... show more

I've put many pieces of furniture together lately since moving to a new place. This particular piece over 30 pieces and the hardware to go along with it. Everything came packaged very well. Instructions were fairly easy to follow. It took me about 3 hours to put it together. Two problems: 1. one drawer handle - when tightening the screw, got it snug and it broke at the threads. Probably go to Lowe's and get another one. 2. Top drawer will not open and close properly. I will go back and try to figure out what is wrong. Bottom one works great. Don't quite understand, never had this problem on any other drawers. Looks nice, doesn't take up a lot of room. ... show more

I just moved into my new house and built about 6-7 pieces of furniture and this one took the longest and was the most complicated overall. It’s doable but be prepared to set aside a few hours to do it. Looks nice and is sturdy however and perfect for what I needed. It’s heavy too. So my son did most of the work and it was his first time doing something like this. I have been assembling furniture since he was a baby so I didn’t struggle much with the parts I helped him with - but after an evening of putting things together, last night - today was attach it all to the metal frame day. What would really help (and I noticed in the pictures that someone else did the same as he did - he assembled it backwards with the straight side in front and the angled side in back. Stickers saying L and R would REALLY help since the difference isn’t very distinguishable. Also the color is nothing like the photo - it is much darker than we wanted (see the photo and ignore the cords everywhere, as this is mid set up) - but it is what it’s is. So now we get to UNassemble the connection to the metal sides which was a real PITB and reassemble hoping that it’s a little easier the second time around….smdh. The three stars is because the instructions really need clarifying, for ANYBODY who’s assembling, not just first timers!” ... show more

Love love love the final product. But getting to that final product was a test that I almost failed. Once the 6-8 hour struggle of assembling each and every single piece, this thing is actually solid and looks great. I had to buy different pulls for the drawers because the ones that came with it have plastic where the screws go in and that plastic just disintegrated whilst tightening the pulls. And the pulls are not standard so I had to drill holes for the new pulls. After all that I still give it 4 stars because it fits my printer, is very solid, and looks fantastic. ... show more
