This eyecup is rectangular, and it fits the eye precisely as it wraps around to block out the extraneous light thoroughly. It makes reading the finder information in glaring light completely possible. Compared to the circular eyecups, which certainly work, this eyecup is more rugged: The cup is thicker, but it is still comfortable, and it's firmness holds it to the eye to block the light more effectively than the softer circular kind. So when you slide your camera into your pack, as I do, if the eyecup rubs against the pack's padding, it will not tear, as did a circular cup wear out and split for me after several insertions. I'd been waiting for a soft rubber, round DK-33 eyecup replacement from Nikon for the Z9 and Z8 mIrrorless cameras, similar to the DK-19 eyecup available for the Nikon DSLR's. While this isn't as soft or pliable as the DK-19 eyecup, I've found that it's the best option available for the Z9 and Z8, and works quite well. That will likely be the case until Nikon modifies the DK-19 for their high-end mirrorless cameras. Come on Nikon, it shouldn't be difficult to modify the DK-19 for the Z9 and Z8. ... show more

I wanted something softer than the OEM eyepiece, so I got this. It's a perfect fit for my D7500 and soft around my eyes. Even with the 18-120mm lens mounted, it fits just fine in my camera bag. Whether or not it fits is going to depend on the one you own, of course. No issues, comfortable round my eyes (even after having had eye surgery), and what more could you want. My first instinct was to go to Nikon and order an OEM replacement. Because they were out of stock, I checked here. There were lots of reviews disparaging Nikon's eye cup for being too small for a decent seal and for coming loose and falling off, which is what happened to mine after falling off in my bag a few times.
