  • Great eyepiece for the money!
I typically buy the Explore Scientific 82 degree UWA eyepieces. This one has the 68 degree AFoV. I had an 18MM UWA on back order but no telling when it was going to arrive and this was $100 less and 1 1/4" rather than 2" so fit some scopes I have with 1 1/4" visual backs and diagonals. There was nothing lacking in the field of view bring a SWA rather than UWA. I truly did like the views and they were WIDE. Eye relief was great and the product flawless. Same great images and quality as the UWA eyepieces. I might even consider having purchased the 68 SWs had I not already had two of the UWs given to me and wanted to complete the series. This takes nothing away from this 'keeper' though. It will fill a niche that the 18mm 2" won't. GREAT EYEPIECE, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! ... show more

  • A great addition to your eyepiece collection
Size: 24mm
I use this in my 10 " dob. Fine performance and the field of view and magnification is in the sweet spot to find deep sky objects. A little pricey but worth it, especially if you can get it on sale at Amazon as I did.

  • Great eyepiece, wide views and not heavy
Size: 16mm
Great eyepiece, got it as part of the NEAF conference sale. Good build quality, wide view and lightweight, will not cause balance issues like some heavy 2" eyepieces.

  • Big improvement over plossl, but takes some getting used to. Can't be used with f6.3 focal reducer.
Size: 40mm
I own a 9.25" SCT and was looking for the widest field view I could get. When used "successfully" this eyepiece (68 degree view, 40mm) offers a fabulous view. But it takes some taking used to. I found when trying to align my telescope it was actually harder to use than the plossl that came with the scope: unless I got my eye precisely over the center, I would see "kidney bean" shaped pieces of the view. Also, beware that you can't use this in combination with the f6.3 focal reducer as the focal length is too long, and apparently brings the secondary mirror assembly into view. Had I known this, I think I would have purchased the 34mm eyepiece instead (Celestron says the max with the FR is 35mm). ... show more

  • Bright and sharp
Size: 24mm
I'm using this primarily with an 8-inch Newtonian. It has a nice field of view without having to spend a huge amount of money. I get clear, sharp views throughout the field of view--it almost seems like I am floating in space. I'm using it primarily for viewing DSOs, but it is excellent for initially viewing planets before switching to a shorter focal length eyepiece. I'm now considering a 40 mm as well. ... show more

  • Excellent optical and build quality
Does everything I need it to do. Stars are pinpoint across the field of view. I use it to frame shots before mounting my APS-C sensor camera on my 950 mm focal length telescope.

  • Not sure why?
Size: 24mm
I tried this in my Skywatcher 150 f/5 and it was awful. A microscopic move of my eye and all the stars where shooting back at me like I was in a time tunnel - I don't know if eye pieces can be damaged, or what effect that would have, but this one was unviewable.
