I was really hoping that it would work but had to return it, defeated. It's hard to use it as a pump because you have to press it very slowly to get the air in and it's hard to seal the whole with a hand properly when pumping. Blowing up a mattress is still a slow and painful process. No time or energy saved. And then... The pillow is small and has a thick foam inside so it's now even compressible all that much. It's still a huge space sucker. I went to the store and bought sea to summit aero ultralight pillow is it's freaking amazing- great size, tiny when packed, and stretchy fabric makes it soft to sleep on. So much better. If you are looking for a light comfy pillow for backpacking, this is not it. I love exped pads though, they are the best. ... show more

    • Good pump, Not a bad pillow
The pump works good for my Exped Simcomfort DLX pad. The pillow is fairly comfortable but not as comfortable as my normal pillow I sleep with. The Exped Simcomfort DLX pad is not really for backpacking because it is so large and heavy so this pillow is good as a pump but I would also usually have my normal pillow with me (while car camping). If you already have a pump that works well or a less expensive alternative then you don't need this. However I will continue to use it for backpacking because it is a fairly comfortable pillow and fairly compact. ... show more

I bought this item so I wouldn't have condensation in my exped air mattress. I didn't find the directions to be helpful but thanks to the trusty internet I was able to figure out how to use it. It wasn't bad on the trip but it was AWESOME on the car ride there. Not a bad item to have on a car trip.

I have used this with my Exped mattress on two backpacking trips now. I am pleased to report that it makes inflating the mat a breeze and surprisingly makes a nice pillow too. I was upgrading from a thermarest neoair all season, which is a comfortable one, but it takes forever to inflate. It this was compatible with the valves on that, I probably wouldn't have also bought the exped mattress. That being said, I am very happy with my purchase and with the exped products. ... show more

Buy this over the small little pump. The pump takes longer to blow up an exped pad than by mouth. This unit gets the job down >2x faster than the little blue pump. Pump is much lighter. Pump inflates my Exped UL Long-wide matress in 20-25 pumps or so. Takes maybe 2 minutes? Less? Pillow is not too bad to sleep on. Put tomorrow's tshirt on it as a pillow case -- helps with the texture against your face. Pack-size not as small as the non-pump version, but the pump is handy if you have room. ... show more
