  • Easy to use and results in a week
Easy to use. There are video instructions as well as a step by step pamphlet. It was easy to register and do and get results. I’d buy again.

  • Terrifyingly inaccurate
I bought this test to do at home within hours of also taking a test at the doctor's office. I wanted to compare results to see how reliable this test was so that I could later use it to keep a better eye on my cholesterol levels in-between annual physicals. I received my results from my doctor a week ago and they were almost exactly what they were last year showing that my cholesterol is holding fairly steady. I received my Everlywell results today, (about 5 days later than the doctor owing to the need to ship samples). Everlywell shows that my triglycerides are 3, almost 4 times higher than my doctor says they are. With such different results, I have to believe that my doctor's results are more accurate- not just because they showed the better number, but because the samples were taken by a trained professional, processed right away instead of sitting in the mail, not exposed to any of the heat or cold they may have experienced in the mail, and also because they are so similar to what they were last year and I don't believe a hospital lab would make nearly the exact same mistake with the same patient two years in a row. Had I gotten the Everlywell results before my doctor's, I would be terrified of that number. According to my doctor, my triglycerides are fantastic. Everlywell's 3, almost 4 times higher number makes it look like I am a heart attack waiting to happen. I won't buy this test again. Even if they only make a mistake on 1 in every 1000 tests, even if the mistake is user error, such inaccurate results can have dangerous results when it comes to someone's health- if not in their cholesterol then in the mental health toll of being scared such inaccuracies are true. If you are worried about your cholesterol in-between physicals, ask your doctor for another test. If you don't have a regular doctor, ask an urgent care doctor. ... show more

  • Results are wildly inaccurate
As a Ph.D. biochemist, I have been measuring my cholesterol levels over the past 30 years. So has my doctor. My total cholesterol has always been between 200 and 250 mg/dl over that period. My HDL has always been safely high at 60-65. I take no drugs or treatments for cholesterol. This month, I measured my values using this Everlywell kit for the first time. The testing service came back with a total cholesterol value of only 175 mg/dl and an HDL of 39 with a warning that my HDL levels are too low (lol). My dr just measured my levels 3 months ago and Everlywell's service was off by over -160% on my total cholesterol, and -60% on my HDL. Either their test is inaccurate or they mixed up my sample with someone else's. Either way I do not recommend anyone buy or use this kit for any reason. ... show more

  • Not a Cholesterol Test
This is not a cholesterol test. This is a blood sample collection kit. You mail the blood to a lab which performs the actual test. That having been said, it is very convenient and easy to do. It has detailed instructions as to when and how you take your sample. It comes with a few little prickers, and you're supposed to prick your finger. It doesn't hurt very much, and it doesn't much of a wound. I was concerned that the tiny little prick might not produce enough blood for the test, but it did with no problem. Also I wore a bandaid for a few hours. I play guitar, and I took the bandaid off after a few hours, and I didn't even notice it. Then they give you instructions to mail the blood sample to an address. They notify you via email when the results are ready, and you can check online. The whole process took 5 days for me after I got the package in the mail. Reliability? I don't know if the results are reliable. ... show more

  • as expected
Decent turn around from start to finish and results were within what we expected to find for my husband. Everlywell, in general, is one of our favorites for easy, at home tests. No complaints or regrets.

  • Worth the money
Simple to use. Results come back real fast in a clear and easy to understand e-mail. My insurance only pays for my Dr. to test me once a year. I used this at the 6 mo interval to gauge how well my Low-Cholesterol Diet was doing. Worth it!!

  • BEWARE - LDL result is now Calculated
PROs: Everly well provides a nice online interface to manage in process and historical health test info. They provide prompt shipping and usually process the tests (via their lab) quickly. CONs: There are (2) major flaws which lead to my rating of 2.5/3 stars. (1) The LDL result is no longer a direct measurement. On (2) previous lipid tests I purchased through Everlywell, the LDL measurement was a direct measurement, meaning the lab provided the actual LDL measured in the blood sample. This is a more accurate (sometimes much more) than a calculated LDL via Total and HDL measurements. (2) Producing a blood sample via the provided sample card can be very difficult to do correctly. Even following the directions, I have a 50% rate of success with my blood sample cards. ... show more
