  • Great Camera for your personal surveillance state
Color: White
Definitely looks like you're serious about security, no one will mistake this for a wimpy, weak camera. The aesthetic screams "I see all", if that's what you're going for. But functionally it's so hard to dislike. The IR sensors pick up everything. The camera's own motion detection is iffy, where it just watches for things moving in the video. But it's like a bloodhound with those IR sensors. The moment someone steps on the yard, the camera pivots out of nowhere to watch them (and at night the lights blaze on). Any side them come from, it's there. Honestly I'm glad the dome blocks any view of the camera because it would be CREEPY. It also likes to watch cars that drive nearby. Once it finds a "target", ahem, I mean, subject. It follows them all over the place. Again creepy if they could see it. It rarely misses anything. I make it a game for my kids to try to sneak by without triggering it. Not even joking. A few other great things about it: * Video quality is clear, sharp even in poor lighting conditions (eg light shining directly in the camera) * Frame rate is 25fps (very smooth video of my kids playing) * Response time is great (getting videos from app, starting livestream, changing settings) * Connection is reliable (never a hint of any issues) * Decent sound, plus noise from camera moving is very quiet * Had a good amount of rain recently (CA) and it has not been affected at all. Might be due to installation tips I got online. * Lights are very bright and I like being able to set the color temp, I keep mine at very warm and brightness 50% Some cons, however. * Notifications can't be turned off or limited more than recordings. Unlike all their other cameras, Eufy made some custom stuff here and you can set a timer to disable all notifications for this individual camera. You can also set it to record only "human" detected events, although those often miss things I've found. I would like an option to record everything but only notify me of human alerts. Or maybe only alert me at night. * Not very cute. I can see a little curtness in the design but it's destroyed by the all seeing eye vibe * Human detection 9ft off the ground is not very accurate, gets maybe 50% of people. Although they are all "seen" and recorded as regular motion thanks to IR sensors * Motion tracking is a little drunk, when people are very close (under the camera). It overshoots and won't see them ever again (amusing) or else keeps putting them on the edge of the frame and going back and forth a lot. Changing settings has not improved this much. Kinda ruins the "evil overlord" thing but doesn't worry me that much since someone has to start far away where this is not an issue. * A nitpick, but turning on the light manually gets overriden by the auto off timer if any motion is detected (which tends to happen if you're going outside to use the light). As soon as something is detected, the light turns off after 30s no matter how you turned it on. * Also the notifications (same with other Eufy products) will pop up on my phone twice if I have "full effect" turned on (once for text only, again when they add the thumbnail) ... show more

  • Had a moisture problem! Things looking better with the replacement!
Color: White
The media could not be loaded. On a side note, I took it off human only motion detection to get a look at other activity during the night and it recorded the other visitors. 02-08-2022 - Back to a 5-star as far as the equipment! Went through the ice storm and temperatures have been all over the place and still no moisture, so that's a good thing and the camera is working great. *** The only issue now is access using Alexa and Google Home. I can control the lights with either one, but neither one will display the video, which they both used to be able to do. Not quite sure what's up with that, it displays fine using the eufy app, but it would be nice to be able to see the video feed on the Echo show and the G-Max. 02-03-2022 - We're back up to a 4-star rating, it went through a blizzard, negative temperatures and back into the 40's for the past couple of days and there hasn't been any moisture. We've got an ice storm coming tomorrow and then back below freezing for the weekend. If all goes well the rating will go back up to 5 stars because everything else works great. And just an aside on tracking, it follows me around the yard when I am out there! 01-25-2022 --- Went up to a 2-star rating, heard back from eufy, received a replacement camera and installed it yesterday. Temperature was in the 40's today, it will be back to single digit tomorrow and not expected to get above freezing for a week, so we shall see, fingers crossed! After I took the old camera down, I added another photo of the camera just to show that the moisture had returned. 01-06-2022 --- Went to a 1-star rating, after being back outside for 4 days, the moisture is back and covering the inside of the dome, which makes the view through the camera very blurry. Apparently, this camera can't handle cold weather. Fortunately, this camera only does the back yard. If I ever hear back from Eufy I will update my review accordingly. 01-02-2022 --- After 9 days in the house the moisture was finally gone. I reconnected the wiring and hooked it back up today, the temperature was in the 50's F (10's C) tomorrow we will be in the 20's F (-6's C). Only time will tell what happens next, I will let you know! I have had a TRENDnet PTZ dome camera set up outside for years and never experienced any issues like this! 12-28-2021 --- Went to a 2-star rating. Ended up contacting Eufy and the suggestion was to use a blow-dryer to dry up the moisture. Seemed to work at first, but when I checked on it a few hours later there was more moisture inside the dome than when I began. This didn't make any sense. Contacted Eufy about the results and NEVER heard back! 12-27-2021 --- Went to a 3-star rating. Noticed the video getting rather blurry/fuzzy, I figured the glass dome was probably dirty and needed to be cleaned. Went to clean the dome and found out that it wasn't dirty, it was filled with moisture! Sent an email to Eufy support and got an automated response with one of the suggestions saying to disconnect the camera and bring it inside, apparently to warm up and have the moisture go away. So I had to disconnect the hard wired camera and bring it into the house, put it on the workbench in the room where the furnace is located and that's where it's been for the past 4 days. Some of the moisture has dissipated, but there's still quite a bit there. Not sure how this is going to play out, or whether my rating goes back up or down even further. I'm not planning to have to do this on a regular basis! Now... The jury came back with a 5-star review after working with eufy support, which was quick and responsive. Ended up having to uninstall and reinstall the device from the App and then do a power cycle and everything worked like a charm. Can view the camera and control the light from both Google Home and Amazon Alexa. As for the motion tracking, that works like a charm also. It will lock on to you and follow you around the yard, even to the shed at the far end of the yard and then all the way back to the house right up to the point where you walk in the door. It even captures a screen shot of your face. Tried it on all motion but had to switch it back to human only when it started tracking birds! Has a lot of customizable features, for the light and for the camera. I've only just begun! Before... The jury is still out on this one! Had high hopes for this camera, not even going to get in to it's functionality at this point other than my 2 main annoyances. Google home recognizes it only as a light and not as a camera. Amazon Alexa actually recognized it as a camera and a light, but now can no longer connect to it as a camera. So what's up eufy! ... show more
