I bought two of these for my 9yo and 7yo daughters. I think this is a perfect Bible for these ages. True Bible wording (not paraphrased for children), but the "study helps" are written to engage younger children. We also bought the student study bible for my 14yo and it was great also. (The grow Bible would have definitely been too "young" for the 14 yo). I would say this is a great Bible for 6/7 (or younger if ready for the reading) up through about 11/12. ... show more

    • A great bible for tweens
Both in content and layout, this bible is great for older children. As other reviewers mentioned, font size and leading are generous and a great aid to newer readers. The sidebars and special sections help students identify and understand important themes. Sections such as Who-What-When-Where-Why condense key facts memorably. I was initially concerned how the notes would play in our Methodist congregation because Crossway published the Grow! Bible in collaboration with Calvinist publishing house Concordia. However, the notes are even-handed and appropriately broad for school-age readers and gave no pause to this diehard Arminian. ... show more

I decided to buy this for my 5 year old son even though it doesn't recommend it for his age range. No he can't read it alone yet, but loves having his big boy Bible, and I read it with Him, and the discussion points are awesome! I do wish it had more pictures but that wasn't worth rating it one less star lol. ... show more

    • great step up from a children's bible
Just gave this product to my 10 year old daughter. A step up from a children's bible so it's great for this age. I like that it seems more like a student study bible but the added "study parts" are written for kids age 8-12 so it's not above their heads. Although no modern english translation is perfect and even the KJV has translation issues, this translation is much better than some. ... show more

I wasn't 100% sure what to expect when I got this. It is a Bible with all the passages as I had hoped. It also has nice little explanations of difficult topics. It is colorful and easy to read. Definitely a good book for the ages listed!

I recently "graduated" my 8-year-old son from the ESV Seek & Find Bible to the Grow Bible. Of course, it contains the same accurate ESV translation as the other one. The study questions are good, as well. My son was somewhat disappointed that the illustrated stories were missing, but he is also quite excited to be reading chapters worth of Scripture. ... show more

    • Excellent Bible for our seven year old
We did a lot of searching of children's Bibles for our seven year old to encourage him in beginning to read the Bible on his own and to provide some good, theologically sound helps. This was a difficult task. After reviewing this Bible, we purchased it--and we have found it to exceed our expectations! Basically I would call this "the ESV Study Bible for Kids."     • Great for 2nd through 4th graders
This Bible is easy for kids to read and contains some maps and pictures. It is laid out so that they can follow along with Bible readings and eventually, as they learn to read, actually read the Bible. There are explanations for some of the more difficult concepts in The Bible.
