Top Amazon Reviews

  • CHEAP PRODUCT DO NOT BUY
DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT IT IS FALSELY ADVERTISED AND NOT USEABLE! I have had to write this review 4 x because the vendor keeps complaining to amazon that I am violating the protocol for reviews, when truly they don't want people to know they are stealing your money for a product that comes poorly pre-made, with cheap materials and faulty assembly instructions that damage the cheap product even further if you follow it to a t. This product comes with cheap wood that is supposed to be pre-drilled ( necessary if you follow the directions) with holes. to assemble. The product came with its sides already cracking and or breaking from their frame assembly, and missing one full side of pre-drilled holes to put the cheap screws in. Forget using a power drill, it will strip the head of the cheap screws provided leaving you with a half in half out screw that will begin to break the wood, that cannot withstand the weight. If you lose a regular screw driver, you have to apply pressure to the wood frame that cannot withstand said pressure. You will then have a half in half out screw barely holding the nesting boxes, and to use your own screws ( of good quality ) You will turn the cheap wood frame into sawdust. As you will have to add more more holes that were supposed to be pre-drilled doing so will crack the cheap wood as well. To almost secure all flipping doors and roofs you will need to add more pre-drilled holes and alternative screws that the product can't withstand . If you follow the directions to a t, you will actually block the maim function of the opening nesting box because it tells you to line up the sides over the hinges. Essentially nothing lines up as it should to begin with , and with all the mcquivering of trying to fix address assembly issues, you further misaligned the sides of the product and deteriorate it. Try to disassemble and reassemble? Not a chance, doing so will break the cheap wood x barely secured screws and then you will have to drill new holes and repeat the messy falling apart process all over again. The kicker? They charge you $300 plus for a product that is supposed to be able to support chickens to live in , on and around it. The chickens ( 3 total) completely broke the flooring with their weight ( they aren't that big) and the roof ( chickens sit on high places) and within 2 days this thing has a concaved nesting box roof , broken floors from bearing their weight and is essentially being kept together vi tarp and to shield the chickens from the elements. AMAZON directed me to the vendor who then tried to buy me off with a 20$ reimbursement. I pushed back and they claimed that I could only receive $50-70 reinburs, ment for a $300 + Product that does not work. Very disappointed @ amazon they would let a vendor sell a cheap product and falsely advertise and steal money from their client base. Equally disappointed the vendor won't take accountability for lying to consumers on this useless item. ... show more

  • Not bad for the price.
Not sure what the other review meant by not looking like the photo. Mine arrived in great shape and unit was easy to put together. Looks exactly as advertised. Material is not meant to last a lifetime but for the price I think it’s reasonable. Also agree with another review to put the tray and roosting bars last. Part #8 has one orientation only - it’s not symmetrical so be careful. Overall it’s a great design. ... show more

  • Ups & Downs, but not bad!
Super easy to assemble. Works great inside of a fenced run. Material not sturdy enough to be predator proof out in the open. Mine is on a stilted table 3 ft off the ground because we get heavy rains here. It's really cute. I have 9 hens and a rooster that cram in here at night. I have this inside of a 10'x15' welded wire dog run covered in chicken wire with sheet metal around the base and electric fence run around the perimeter, so it's a great little coop for them. Way too flimsy to use without those safeguards around it. Again, very cute, easy to assemble, easy to clean, chickens really like it, just not sturdy enough for predator prevention. ... show more

  • Fell apart in less than a week
Easy to put together, but gets soaked inside every time it rains because there are gaps everywhere, the bottom slide out tray is made so poorly my chickens fell through it after 1 week and were terrified. The screws for the coop door came out by the 2nd week. Overall, it’s completely unstuffy, not at all weather or critter proof, and a complete disappointment. For the price, it should be much better. Would not recommend AT ALL. ... show more

  • Can't withstand much weather; faulty hinge killed one of our hens.
We got two of these houses last year when chicken gear was hard to find. They were easy to put together, cute, and relatively functional. Unfortunately, some of the stapled-on pieces came off fairly quickly and we had to nail them back on. Our houses are covered but some rain and snow will blow in from the sides. The doors of the coops did not fare well in the moisture and came apart, requiring us to glue and nail them but they were no longer tightly fitted. Now for the upsetting part, which happened today. A prelude, though...last week, our son went to close the top of one after checking for eggs. The left-side locking hinge frozen up and when he tried to release it, it ripped away from the coop, bent. Today, with the roof having been open for ventilation (and the hinges well-locked as we check them regularly), something happened and the left-sided hinge released, catching one of our pullets and breaking her neck. After dealing with the trauma and our poor chicken, we opened the top up again to see if we could determine what happened, only to have it freeze up and rip off of the coop as well. As you can imagine, we're not very pleased. We've never lost a chicken before and to have it happen this way has upset the whole family, especially because we're all out there regularly checking on them, holding them, and enjoying them. Everyone tells us how spoiled and well-cared for our girls are and how nice and clean their setup is, which makes this even harder to swallow as we work hard to keep them happy and healthy. We're in the process of converting our shed into a large house for them and had planned to pass these two on to another family starting their flock, but under no circumstances will we be doing that now, even if the hinges are replaced. I realize I could have just contacted the manufacturer, but I don't want this to happen to anyone else. If you have one of these, make sure to keep your chickens off of the top edge no matter how firmly things are locked when you open the top and don't leave it open for ventilation when chickens are present. If you don't have one already, perhaps this flaw has already been identified and corrected, but I'd feel remiss if I didn't say to proceed with your purchase cautiously. ... show more
