I just received my iPad Pro 13" (M4) ESR Rebound case yesterday (8/30/24) so I do not have a lot of time with it yet but it is a well made, quality case at a good price. I never heard of ESR before but an online rating I saw picked the ESR Shift case as the top pick with this as the budget friendly pick. This case is not a 'shockproof', drop from the balcony case. It is a folio cover that is light weight and will protect the iPad screen (when closed) and the back of the iPad case from dirt and scratches when set down on the variety of surfaces we place our iPads on. I already own the Apple Magic Keyboard case, which is great for making the iPad into a laptop but it is HEAVY (661g). The whole purpose of the iPad (to me) is a light weight laptop substitute. The Magic Keyboard case weighs more than the iPad itself. This ESR folio weighs 351g and is my secondary option for when I do not want the keyboard, want to use the Apple Pencil or just want to travel light. My only critique is that magnets are strong, but I wish they were a little stronger. If the folio is open and you shake it firmly (holding only the case and not the iPad), it could shake loose from the magnets. This may be true of the Apple Smart Folio or any other case. I have not tested them all. One of the features that I especially like is the magnetic flap that covers the Apple Pencil when magnetically connected to the iPad. It is a little added security and folds over and connects to the case back when not needed, so it is not in the way. Overall, the ESR Rebound is a great option if not looking for a keyboard or industrial protection. ... show more

Well designed case that magnetically holds the iPad, making it very easy to take the iPad out and put back in the case. It’s not bulky, yet provides good protection to the front and back of the iPad. The only downside of this design is that it does not provide protection for the iPad corners. Maybe a future version can include a short fence to protect the corners and still have magnetic attachment. The magnetic cover wake/sleep works fine for me. ... show more

There are many things to love about this case. The finish is excellent, with a kind of rubberized eggshell satin feel that feels very good to the touch and doesn’t excessively attract fingerprints. It's the same finish on the Apple Pencil Pro. The magnets are also adequately strong and securely hold the iPad in place. The inner section is also very good and doesn’t leave any marks on your iPad screen. Overall, it feels very OEM and is a very good value compared to Apple’s folio case. There are only two issues I find problematic. With the folding part of the case there don’t appear to be any magnets to help it stay in place when folded up—just gravity. So, if you lift it up, the base hangs down and collapses when you place it back on a surface. The second issue concerns the Magic Pencil. The case holds the pencil securely in place, but only if it’s placed while the front cover is open. If it’s placed while closed, the magnets won’t make a secure connection, leading to the pencil getting knocked off the next time the front cover is opened. This is because the edge of the case protrudes just enough to prevent a secure connection. This same issue prevents USB accessories from sitting flush against the iPad, forcing users to remove the magnetic back before putting it back after the device is installed. Initially I rated the case poorly because of this issue, but it seems that it is a necessary tradeoff to provide edge protection and Apple's own folio case has the same issue. After several weeks of use I've adapted to mounting the pencil before closing the front cover and it's no longer a problem. Overall I'm happy with it. ... show more

I really liked this case, especially for the price compared its competitor. However, I don’t like that the iPad isn’t fully protected, it’s more of just a dust cover. I love that there is a flap to secure the pencil I think that’s very clever. The purple color is cute and it’s so easy to install. It just clicks in with magnets. It folds into different stand modes easily as well and doesn’t fall over. It feels relatively durable and quality. Ultimately I will be returning this for the shift case by the same brand. ... show more

Let me start by saying I found this case to feel really good: light, high quality materials, and the colors (my wife got purple) are terrific. The flap to hold the pencil is a “must have” for any case lacking border protection. I am at a loss to understand how Apple can charge $60 more for a very similar quality case without it. Having said that, I want to note that ESR Customer Service has been exceptional in addressing original concerns I had about the consistency of the auto/wake sleep function. Not only did they offer to send a replacement, but they gave me a choice of their higher-end cases to try and keep, while refunding both myself and my wife for our original purchases (and keeping those as well). So, while I would give this very affordable case 4 stars, I have bumped up my overall rating to 5 stars based on the response from ESR. Moreover, I am extremely pleased with the much more expensive case I was provided at no cost and I would give that other style, the ESR Shift case, a 5-star rating on its own merits. The Shift case provides an unparalleled combination of drop protection, perfect fit, flexibility in screen position, versatility in orientation, pencil charging and storage, and fine overall quality. The entire Shift folio case IS heavy, but its ingenious design enables easy detachment of the iPad from the cover and magnetic back. Thus, it retains its TPU border and own back that, when separated from the rest of the complete case, is very light. Again, I could not be more pleased with the follow up and professionalism of the ESR customer service team (Zed in particular, was a highly competent and respectful representative). ESR has always been my choice for quality products at great value - and they will remain so in the future. They stand by their customers and want to “make things right” by going above and beyond. ... show more
