Let me preface this review by saying that I don't consider this a bad product, just wanted to provide this info for anyone else that might need it. I purchased this organic soil to make Walstad dirted shrimp tank, which I understand is not the intended use-case of this product. I established the tank for two weeks with the soil and all the plants before introducing the shrimp. I'll say that the soil works great for the purpose of supporting aquatic plants and the fauna that tagged along with them (snails, worms, bacteria, etc). If you simply wanted to create an aquatic aquarium then I'd say this product will work for you. However, when I introduced the shrimp they really struggled in the tank. Constantly at the water's surface even with water changes and checking all the parameters. After losing a few shrimp I transferred them to another container that just had some fresh RO water and fluval stratum and they perked right up. Based on my researched I've read that some topsoil blends just don't play well with shrimp and their sensitive water needs, so I wanted to put this out there for anyone that comes along. ... show more

    • Best plant soil I have ever used.
It comes completely dry so there is no moisture like some store bought soil bags which can contain bugs, so you can safely store it for a long time. It’s porous so water doesn’t clump or pond, and also enriched. My plants love it and I won’t use anything else.

    • Perfect for growing cat grass.
I have to be very careful using soils to grow grass for my cats. I always look for organic with no additives. Even some of the organic causes vomiting in one of my especially finicky one. Recently been more difficult to find soil that works, especially locally. This seems to be working . The grass grows quickly and very nice patch of cat grass.
