Description

Choose the red pill and Escape the Meatrix What if you suddenly discovered you were trapped inside a dystopian cult of oppression, murder, and profit—and that your greatest source of calories was an artificially invented diet created by powerful lobbies, designed to line the pockets of the 1% at the cost of your own health and the planet’s very survival? What would you do? Escape the Meatrix chronicles Stuart Waldner’s eye-opening battle against climate change as he exposes the real reason veggies are more expensive than a burger (it’s not what you think); the shocking list of diseases that a plant- based lifestyle can slow, prevent, or even cure; and how America’s declining health is linked directly to corporate profit. We might not like the truth, but the cost of ignorance is far too high. Will you take the blue pill and let the planet burn? Or will you take the red pill, open this book, and Escape the Meatrix? • A thorough and compelling work!
Escape the Meatrix is a comprehensive treatise on the many benefits of eating a plant-based diet. For those who question the wisdom or the need to adopt such a diet, please read this book. In this current age of echo chambers, we are constantly surrounded by information that confirms what we already believe. I encourage those who currently eat meat, to courageously stay the course and resist the urge to close this book prematurely when confronted with the mounds of evidence that supports giving up eating meat and dairy. The compilation of research (with over 400 citations in this book) overwhelmingly supports plant-based eating as the healthy choice for humans, animals, and the planet. Each chapter in this book deals with an important component of plant-based eating. I particularly resonated with the chapter on “speciesism,” the idea held that some animals’ lives are more important than others. The author highlights the cognitive dissonance that occurs when we go to great personal and financial expense to protect our loved pets from harm, yet are able to psychologically dissociate and eat other species of animals. We’re able to do that because we are shielded from the horror of slaughterhouses and because we have no contact with the animals we eat and thus have no personal attachment to them. The neatly stacked and bloodless packages of meat in our grocery stores sanitize us from a cruel reality. The author also shines a bright light on the inequity of the economic playing field by revealing the huge government subsidies that the meat and dairy industry receives. Without those subsidies, the cost of producing meat and dairy would be so outrageously high that few could afford it. As a result, plant-based meat and milk substitutes are more expensive, making it harder for many consumers to justify their purchase. Mr. Waldner has created an invaluable resource for those who want to understand the benefits of a plant-based diet and are looking to reduce their carbon footprint to be better stewards of our earth and all life on it. He has created a seminal work that is perfectly timed for a world that is making huge changes in consciousness as we evolve to become a more compassionate species. I truly believe there will come a day when our children ask, “did you really kill animals and eat them? How could you ever have believed that was the right thing to do?” It will likely seem incredulous to our offspring that we were so blind to the harm we were doing to our bodies, to sentient creatures, and to the environment. Thank you, Stuart Waldner, for writing this excellent book and for laying down a firm foundation for a much-needed change in consciousness and practice. ... show more

  • Opened My Eyes!
Wow! What a knock-out book! It is chock full of important information that I had never thought about. As a child partially growing up in another country, I was very aware that in that country we ate a lot less meat than when I was in the USA. I never connected the discrepancy to industry advertising to benefit the meat and animal product industry. I did note that my relatives in that country frequently lived into their early 100s, while those in this country rarely made it past their early 80s and most times not even that far. Thank you Mr. Waldner for your well researched book opening my eyes to so many truths hidden to us about why we are led to believe that eating meat is critical to our survival instead of the other way round. Meat production and consumption is causing us and our planet great harm. ... show more

  • Best book I've read about why to transition to a plant based diet!
It is mind boggling to see how one simple act, of eating a plant based diet, can help improve one's health, save the animals and contribute hugely towards saving the planet. Mr. Waldner provides well researched compelling facts and connects many dots in this book. It is great to have access to so many points of data, analysis and ultimately understanding this paradigm of meatrix. Woven together with personal stories, it is certainly an eye opener. This is a much needed book at this time. I highly recommend this book. This is hands down the best researched and comprehensive book I've read about the implications of a plant based diet. ... show more

  • Inspiring and thought-provoking
This is the book I've been looking for. Escape the Meatrix gives a clear, straightforward, and well-researched picture of the many benefits of choosing a plant-based diet while also bringing to light the interwoven tendrils of the cultural mythos, hidden cruelty, and pervasive damage of consuming animal products. Escape the Meatrix is thought-provoking and inspiring. It encourages readers to learn the truth, enjoy delicious food that creates good health, and help save the planet and its animals. Like the author, Stuart Waldner, I choose to take the red pill and wake up. I invite you to read this book and do the same. ... show more

  • Plants can heal our bodies and reduce global warming
I love this book! Stuart Waldner uses his life experience and extensive research to argue that humans can benefit from plant based diets. He suggests our current animal products based diet has been promoted by the "meat industrial complex." Our taste buds, diets and lifestyle choices have been manipulated by corporations eager to develop products the public craves, that result in repeat purchases. Easy to read, this fascinating book makes a thorough case that individuals can heal and satisfy their bodies by eating plants, improve our food industry, and create a healthier planet. ... show more

  • definitely worth reading
I haven't been able to find a book that had all the benefits of veganism in one place until now. It is comprehensive, easy to read, and thought provoking. I also especially liked the nonjudgemental approach the author used. I would definitely recommend this book.
