  • Comfortable for back with less bulk
Color: Starry Sky Style: Premium Cotton
I tried all four of the Ergos on the market right now including the 360 Omni. And I landed on this one. My daughter is 13 months and we’ve had the baby bjorn one since birth as well as a wrap. Really liked both for a variety of reasons. However when she hit about 12-14 pounds, my back started to get uncomfortable with the Bjorn and she hated the wrap after about 7 months - too confining. I think I couldn’t adjust the Bjorn well enough where I didn’t feel her weight concentrated in certain areas. I also didn’t like the simple clip behind me. It offered little support. (Side note- my daughter loves it though, she is ergonomically positioned and especially loves facing out. My husband still is comfortable carrying her in it.) I also wanted a carrier that would be comfortable during pregnancy. So I went on the hunt for a new carrier. When I ordered the Ergos, the first thing I noticed was the back and front lumbar support. I couldn’t believe how much of a difference it made. FYI I looked at virtually all the top varieties of carriers and brands but so many of them didn’t have the front and back lumbar support. Also some of them appeared quite long and reviewers complained it wasn’t good for petite people (I am). Anyway, I liked all the Ergos (great for petite people) but I landed on this one which I think is the least popular of all of them. Here’s why- the criss crossing straps are quite comfortable for me being petite (not an option on the original and 360 though you could rig them to use it like that), I like less bulk (less bulky than the omni 360 and 360), i liked the option of no newborn insert for the next baby (not an option for 360 or original), I didn’t need the option of facing out as that was the most uncomfortable position for my back and our Bjorn had us covered with that. I also didn’t like the clips on the Omni 360 (but that was minor). Truthfully if we were deciding on our first and only carrier, I’d go with the omni 360 because our daughter loves facing out front (and that’s what my husband prefers). But since I don’t prefer to carry in that position (and she’s content on my back which is way better for backs in general) and we already have another carrier, I went with less bulk. Also, I thought I wouldn’t like the thick shoulder straps but actually they really distribute the weight (especially compared to the Bjorn). I’ve been pleased so far. Something I wish were different - I loved the storage pocket on the original. Even the pouch on the Omni 360 is annoying to use. Wish there was something like that on this one. I will update when we have another baby how it works in pregnancy and newborn stage. ... show more

  • What's not to love about Ergo carriers?!
Color: Pearl Grey Style: Premium Cotton
UPDATE 2019: Ergo has finally come out with a carrier that does it all!! Get the Omni 360 for the one and only carrier you’ll ever need! I imagine Ergo will eventually phase out the Orifinal, Adapt, and original 360 (not to be confused with Omni 360...they are different so be careful to choose the Omni which doesn’t require an infant insert! Unless u want to have to use it) I love the Omni 360 as my one go to carrier even though I love all Ergo. Hope this review and update helps you! I have the original carrier as well as this Adapt and love them both. I'm sure I'd love the 360 too, but haven't gotten that far yet as our baby is too small (just turned 4 months) to face out. Love the original for the pocket and actually really like the additional baby insert. Seems cozy and like extra protection. Plus I live in the midwest so the winters are cold and there's no danger of overheating when you have a January baby ;) As for durability and use time - they're both very well made with strong cotton that look like they could be easily washed (haven't had to yet so not sure, but have read they both wash up nicely) and I've had both on for a few hours without issue or back pain. As for the Ergo Adapt, I love it precisely because it DOESN'T need an infant insert. That may sound counter to what I just said above, but while the cozyness of the insert for the Original is great, the ease and speed with which I can get my baby snuggled into the Adapt WITHOUT the insert is also great. I also prefer the waist strap on the Adapt. Unlike the Original that only pulls from one side to tighten, the Adapt can be pulled from both sides to tighten around the waist which I like because it provides a more even and comfortable way to tighten once the carrier is on. It also feels sturdier providing slightly better back support, in my opinion. That said, I'm bummed they didn't include a front pocket for wallet/keys/phone on the Adapt like they have on the Original and the sun protector is smaller on this one (although still good enough to shield from overhead sun). Lastly, I love the criss-crossing straps option on the Adapt to keep the weight load more evenly distributed along your shoulders and back. Not sure why this isn't an option on Ergo's other carriers, but definitely a slick add on to the Adapt. Overall, the Adapt is a GREAT buy! I recommend trying this and the Original (and the 360 if forward facing is a must for you) to decide which you prefer. I forewarn though that they all have pros and cons - Ergo needs to make an Adapt with a pocket to store stuff and with the face forward option and all will be right in the baby carrying world! Until then, enjoy whichever carrier you end up with because Ergo makes a great carrier and you won't be disappointed regardless of the one you pick (Original, Adapt, or 360). PS - This seems silly, but pick a color/pattern you like. Not joking. You'll be wearing it so as silly as it is, you want to like how it looks. And be mindful if you live in a warm/sunny climate to maybe not pick a dark color. May not make much of a difference, but anything to keep overheating down seems like a smart idea and I'm guessing a light gray versus black will have an impact, even if only minimal. ... show more
