The course is good so far ... However, I purchased “ new” but on many pages of the practice book there were poorly erased answers and in the course book it was marked up too.

    • Great ESL textbook for beginners
I have been using this book during my English lessons for my beginning students who are adults. I really like how the book is organized and has a lot of drills that we can use. The only thing I don't care for is the use of "He is called" instead of "His name is," etc. This is a UK/US difference, so I have had to point it out to my students so that they don't get confused. Also, I really like that the grammar explanations are simple and concise, because I usually have to explain English grammar in my students' native language anyway. This makes it easier for me to explain it to them. The less I have to explain to the in their native language (Russian), the better :-D ... show more

The book is intended to be for self study to learn English. You can go online and download the App for audio. I'm not sure how easy it would be for a beginner trying to learn English, Still seems the guidance of a teacher is needed. However, I teach English online independently and didn't want to come up with lesson plans. Therefore, I bought this set because it has lessons and activities already made. The illustrations are wonderful and the audio is a nice touch. I think it is a good buy to aid ESL teachers when they need to make lessons. ... show more
