Empava 30-Inch Gas Cooktop – Affordable Upgrade with Mixed Results This Empava 30" gas cooktop caught my eye because it looked like a high-end stainless unit at a budget-friendly price. After two installs (mine and a rental property), here’s what stood out. Installation is pretty straightforward if you’ve worked with gas hookups before—cutout dimensions were accurate, and the kit includes conversion nozzles for both natural gas and propane. I did need an extra connector fitting on one install, but otherwise it was plug-and-play. The sealed burners make cleanup easier, and the cast-iron grates are solid and even dishwasher-safe. The safety shutoff feature is reassuring, and the overall appearance is sleek and modern. Performance has been mostly solid. All five burners fire up consistently once you get the hang of the ignition, and the center burner is strong enough for a wok or larger pan. It feels like a real step up from a 20-year-old cooktop in terms of flame control and efficiency. That said, quality control is hit or miss. On one unit, the grate arrived with a hairline crack, and on another, the center burner took some fiddling to stay lit. The included manual leaves a lot to be desired—it’s poorly translated and vague, especially on propane conversion. Online videos help fill the gap, but beginners might get frustrated. Customer service is slow and email-only, so don’t expect quick resolution if you get a bad part. Bottom line: For the price, this cooktop looks premium and works well when you get a good unit. Just be ready for possible small hiccups in setup or parts, and budget extra time (or a pro installer) if you’re switching to propane. r5

The media could not be loaded. Update. 9/28/2020 In order to resolve the issue with the center burner not lighting (as someone else experienced) Empava sent me a new cooktop (after much back and forth) and I returned my old one which I thought was fair. I still had to pay again to have it installed but I thought at least I'll have one that works. All the burners lit though the right front one hissed moderately. Now about 3 weeks later, the flame on all the burners is ORANGE. I've emailed customer service and sent them a video and they wanted me to check the nozzle number to make sure I INSTALLED THE RIGHT ONE?!? The customer service person seems nice but she's not a technician and I've just about had it with this stovetop and their customer service. I can not in good conscience recommend this to anyone. I left the review at 1 star because they did replace the original cooktop. I don't leave bad reviews lightly but I expected so much better from an American company. A cooktop is something I should be able to install and then not think about but this has been one ongoing saga of customer service emails after another. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I received the stove promptly from Amazon but due to symptoms (thought it was CV-19 but thankfully it wasn't) I was experiencing and difficulties finding an installer I couldn't get it installed in the 30 day window. Once I found an installer and arranged a date, I also needed to purchase the coupler to get it hooked up to my gas line. After it was installed the tech checked it and found the middle burner didn't work. He suggested I contact an Empava technician. To date after several messages and attachments back and forth, I am no further along and have NEVER received an apology from Empava customer service for the difficulties. They suggest it might be a thermocouple and said they could send the part to me so apparently I could, at my expense, fix a defective range top they shipped. If the situation changes I'll amend my review, but right now I'm ready to ship it back - also at my expense - and replace it with something from a company that cares.

I've wanted a gas cooktop for awhile due to the disappointment in my GE Profile electric cooktop. The 36 inch unit was a straight drop-in replacement for the GE cooktop so an easy switch in my case. I don't have gas in the house and was determined to use this unit with a Propane (LP) tank installed in the cabinet underneath due to ready availability of Propane tanks in my area versus Natural Gas. I have a good high volume vent hood and am familiar with gas appliances so I feel confident in the safety of the unit. As indicated in some other reviews, the instructions were somewhat unclear, particularly regarding the conversion from Natural Gas to Propane. If you are doing this conversion you will have to replace the burner nozzles and adjust the regulator for Propane AND you will have to disassemble the cooktop (fairly easy) to adjust the flame height for each burner. Fortunately, and much to my surprise, Empava provided EXCELLENT support via email and had me up and running in short order. They sent me videos detailing the assembly of the cooktop, as well as for the conversion and adjustment of the burners. During the process I accidentally chipped one of the enameled burner plates (my fault), and requested a replacement from Empava, which I received in about three days. I did not use the provided regulator and went with a higher end Weber regulator installed at the tank rather than directly under the cooktop, also, I had to purchase a different fitting for the cooktop to attach the hose coming from the tank. All parts were easy to find at the local hardware store so no issues. Just as an FYI, the unit does require a standard 110V outlet to plug in the cooktop - this is for piezoelectric starter, so if you don't have a plug in the cabinet under the cooktop you may need to run a wire or extension.
