Description

Self-improvement is a core trait for the engineers at EMAX, which is why when approached about a new successor to the Tinyhawk series, they designed the Tinyhawk III to build upon all the strengths of previous generations while improving any shortcomings. First is a drastically redesigned body frame centered around durability moreso than previous generations. With a key focus on strengthening every weak point in the frame, ultimate reliability is achieved keeping the motors and electronics safe within the internals of the aircraft. The Tinyhawk III also features new modifications to the proven Tinyhawk power system. With newly redesigned internals to the motors paired together with a new quad blade propeller, improved efficiency and flight time is achieved providing a better piloting experience for all skill levels. Repairing a racing drone is inevitable which is why the Tinyhawk III was designed with some quality of life improvements such as a centralized mount in order to access the internals as well as improved motor plugs for the ability to quickly swap out motors between rounds at a racing event.

  • Any review less than 5 stars, you’re nuts!!
This tiny whoop is incredibly fun! To the people complaining about it hardly going 20 feet and losing signal need to go into the VTX settings through the headset or BetaFlight and adjust your power output settings. It runs FrSky protocol, so you get about what you should expect. I can fly all throughout my house from basement, to the 2nd floor with no signal issues. This is the Rocky of quads, you can beat the crapppp out of this thing and it gets right back up! It handles ok but with a few pid adjustments, it handles even better. I have a lot of fun with this thing and should be on everyone’s top 3 list for indoor 1s tiny whoops!! ... show more

  • Excellent drone to learn, tough, configurable
I have nothing but great things to say about this drone. It is extremely tough. I've ran this into basically everything inside the house and outside. It's fallen from the second story, onto our hard tile floor. It's fallen outside from the second story roof or higher, hitting every branch on the way down, hardly a scratch on it. You can plug the drone into your PC and configure it using the "Betaflight" configurator. You can manually set the accelerometer level, to aide in hovering, you can set the max power to 70% and limit tilt ranges, to keep yourself from flipping over, etc. I was and still am, a terrible pilot. But I've been practicing for a little while now, and after all my hard work and dedication, I'm now a terrible pilot that crashes less often! haha I can finally stay in the air for a whole battery pack, and can zip around my yard through the trees and around obstacles. I can kinda fly without the VR headset, but with it, its MUCH more intuitive lol, almost like playing a video game. The drone is small enough to fly around the house to some degree, but way more fun and safe, in open spaces. ... show more

  • $300 paper weight that can’t fly now, durable, poor video quality/signal/range
Just somehow messed everything up in Betaflight trying to update the firmware to 4.4, and now the receiver doesn’t work, I can’t fly the drone, goggles show no OSD, etc. I tried copying and paste my CLI settings and the stock TH3 CLI settings from their site and still can’t get the anything to work or back to how I had it when I saved my CLI settings before trying to update the firmware. Video feed in goggles and recorded video from DVR is staticky making it harder to fly and harder to enjoy your videos. You can get about 100-150’ away on stock everything and then you’ll lose signal and fall out of the sky. This drone has no GPS so if you forgot where you crashed then it becomes hard to find it. You only have a little beeper on it. If the battery dies then you have no idea where it is, the beeper won’t sound, and if you don’t remember where you crashed or if you lost signal then good luck finding it. Depending on which band you are on you will get full screen or line breakups in the recorded video. For the same price as this rtf kit I can get a DJI Mavic Mini that can at least shoot 1080p HD and the video feed is HD. This thing is very durable I will give it that. I have crashed a ton already and everything is still all there and works. I have already had to get the little camera on the drone soldered back to the board though. I have had the little camera on the drone get scratched up from crashing and now the video feed is blurry, washed out, has a black dot on it, is even harder to fly and even worse video quality now. I have had the little camera on the drone come out of it’s original spot plenty of times and I just pop it back into place, lining up with the 2 screws that go into the sides. ... show more

  • Does Not Work Out Of Box: Poor Quality -> Great Customer Service!
Update: EMAX has replaced the drone at no cost! We appreciate their timely service and willingness to make it right! Original review is still below, for maximum transparency. --- I purchased this as a 2022 Christmas gift for a family member. Once they finally got around to flying the drone, they noticed one of the four motors was not spinning. This non-functioning motor makes the drone unflyable. Upon closer inspection, one of the motor's wires was not plugged in properly. In the attached images, the green circle shows what one of the functioning motors looks like, and the red shows what the non-functioning motor's wires look like. We tried plugging the wires in so that the wires in the red would look like the green, but the wires do not "plug" in. Except for disassembling the drone (which we are not comfortable with), we are not sure how to correct this deficiency. We have reached out to EMAX customer service and are awaiting a response. If possible, I will update this review. However, at this time, I would strongly recommend you avoid this kit. ... show more

  • This drone can take a BEATING! So its perfect to learn on!
I have 2 big dogs that chase this thing all around the yard and will eventually jump up and snatch it out of the air. once i catch them and get it out of their mouth ITS STILL ABLE TO FLY (most of the time). I have only replaced 2 of the motors, which is 100% from dogs chomping on it, so if you fly it away from dogs or don't have them you should be good! ALSO if you do need to replace a motor they are super cheap to buy on EMAX's website and they arrive really quick. (I buy them there cause I want to make sure it will work with the drone). The motors are plug in so no soldering necessary (which is awesome). i loved this drone so much i bought the Emax Tiny Hawk (also plug in motors and fairly easy to use, but way faster). ... show more

  • Challenging for first time FPV pilots
I have just gotten into FPV and got recommended this product by a few videos for starter FPV drones. Pretty hard to fly as it either flies super fast or flies super slow, there’s really no in between. Pretty low quality feeling controller and goggles. Would be better for more experienced FPV pilots.
