  • Received A Used Unit
The drone I received was clearly used. The props were torn up, the body was scuffed and there were missing cables. I plugged in the battery to see if it would at least work and the drone immediately started smoking. Absolutely ridiculous.

  • Good drone
The drone is a lot of fun outside. This frame is incredibly durable. I bit off too much too early and smashed the drone freefall into concrete from about my oak trees. All of the screws holding the circuit boards broke from the crash. I replaced the M2 screws that broke and the drone continued to work great somehow. Unfortunately I continued to beat the crap out of it and now, at 100% operator fault, I'm waiting on parts to fix the drone. It's worth keeping in the air. Unfortunately between the maybe 20 battery packs I made it through and about 30 hours flying on the liftoff sim the left stick on the controller has developed a pretty ugly jitter and now I'm looking at replacing the controller this kit come with. I also had to get the vtx running at 400mw in beta flight to get a real flight out of this. Very easy to find instructions online. No real complaints about the goggles. I like that you can record video on them. ... show more

  • Wouldn’t recommend
I flew it one time. Now when u plug battery into drone it starts smoking. Drone doesn’t work anymore

  • Amazing first time drone. Very durable
I got one of these direct from Emax as my first ever FPV. I would recommend ordering it from an actual FPV company, with a good customer service reputation and parts or you can order from Emax directly like I did but shipping was slow. The Freestyle 3 ELRS remote worked out of the box with DRL Simulator and TrypFPV on my windows 10 PC. You just need to do a full calibration in the game and define the half stick point in the simulator so it doesn't throttle up constantly. DO NOT skip Simulated flight if you are a new pilot, it is extremely close to the real thing and you NEED to learn throttle management. Even if you trained with a gaming controller before buying like me, you still need to train with the real controller when it arrives. Throttle on a real controller is very different from a gaming controller. Also learn to hit the arm/disarm switch before you do anything. You need to be able to shut the drone off quickly without looking at the controller. Learning to disarm instantly prevents further damage when crashing, and is important for safe landing or reacting to emergency situations. The range on the remote is higher than the range of the video signal if you lose control and end up out of range you'll be completely blind as your drone tries to fly away. This happened to me, and I had a pretty horrific flyaway. I pulled the video screen off the goggles and used it to probe the neighborhood for video signal. Miraculously I was able to recover the crashed drone and it still works. I was extremely lucky, don't take a chance on a flyaway. Out of the box the analog video range was scary low, I lost signal in my own yard and because I didn't train quick disarming my panic reactions led to the aforementioned flyaway when I should have just disarmed immediately. You can use BetaFlight to send more power (400 Milliwatts) to the video transmitter and increase range. I suspect that Emax expects their customers to do this even though doing so is technically illegal without a HAM Amateur Radio License. Because the video range is pathetically low and barely flyable without making this simple modification. If you don't know what BetaFlight is, you need to start researching the hobby before buying. This is a tiny version of professional acrobatic/race drones. This isn't a DJI, there are no assistance measures in place and you really want to be sure you know what you're doing. The above reviewer says they flew one time and their drone started smoking when they plugged the next battery in. The drone has 2 battery slots. So you can run it on 1 or 2 batteries for more or less power. But if you only plug in one battery, there is still an open connector and you'll short circuit and fry your drone. Which is probably what they did. There is an included connector with a closed loop of wire that you NEED to plug in to the empty connector if you choose to close the circuit when running one battery. Once you get decently familiar you should run 2 batteries though. The efficiency and flight time are much better per battery when you have them both plugged in, instead of running one at a time. It also becomes much more powerful though. Be sure you know how to control it before going to 2 S operation. ... show more
