  • Obsessed with this sunscreen
I’m totally obsessed with this tinted sunscreen. It works perfect on my color skin. It feels nice going on and isn’t too greasy but also feels protective. It also doesn’t itch at all or feel like there’s anything even on my skin. I have problematic skin, and this is my favorite tinted sunscreen. I’ve ever tried, and I’ve tried so many you don’t even know! This Is also the best product from this particular brand, I tried the one that is specific for acne skin, and it itches me for some reason. ... show more

  • Works well!
I didn't like the feeling and gave it to my daughter. She wore this on a boating trip where her arms and back got very burned, but her face did not. Nice product.

  • Very high-quality
The price is high, but it’s a premium product

  • Review of New Formula - UV AOX Elements 50 vs UV Elements 44
DON’T LET THE PRODUCT PHOTO FOOL YOU — I guess it hasn’t been updated? The photo shown is the original formula UV Elements 44, but this page is to buy the new formula (EltaMD has reformulated this product) UV AOX Elements 50. This is a review of the new formulation, UV AOX Elements 50 spf where I compare it with the original UV Elements 44 spf (and respond to recent reviews I’ve been reading and how they match up with my experience) I’ll start with what I like. I really like that it’s 50 spf. What’s up with these random spf numbers from Eltamd? — 44, 41, 46. I always try to wear 50 because my face is very susceptible to burning and I use tretinoin or other retinoids. I really did love the original Elements 44 spf, but I do like that the new one is 50. HOWEVER, I know they had to add some ingredients to bulk up the spf, and that means the new formula is not a purely physical sunscreen (mainly, they added Butyloctyl Salicylate, which is a chemical UV filter). I know this matters to a lot of people. I know a lot of people can be sensitive to it. So I get the negative reviews. For me I don’t love that it’s in there, but I also don’t totally mind. I’m fortunate enough to where I’m not sensitive to it. On to the shade of the tint. Reviews on here are saying it’s more orange. I don’t see that personally. I still have a tube of the Elements 44 and I took a picture here comparing them side by side on the back of my hand. The top is the Elements 44. The bottom is AOX 50. They really look the same to me, and when I use the AOX the tint still blends into my skin tone the same way the original formula did (and I’m fair for the most part). It does seem that for many this isn’t the case though, and I know everyone is different Some downsides next. The new formula is thicker. It makes sense with how they bulked up the spf, that’s why it’s thicker. So it doesn’t feel as moisturizing. I loved using the Elements 44 as my morning moisturizer and very much loved the texture and feel of it. The new formula just isn’t the same. Especially when I re-apply the new formula it will clump in some areas, mainly in my eyebrow area, so I just have to be extra diligent to make sure it’s rubbed in there. It hasn’t put me off using the new formula completely though. With the price, I agree I think it’s ridiculous they raised the price. The reason EltaMD gives for a higher price point is that it’s a higher spf and has added antioxidants. I could maybe see that being justifiable, but only if it was the same amount of product (2oz). Here we’re paying extra for less product (1.7oz). To end, if you can, try to stock up on the remaining stock of the Elements 44, which I did. But when it eventually runs out, for me personally, I don’t mind using the new AOX 50 because it still serves my needs — a tinted sunscreen with iron oxides (because I struggle with hyperpigmentation), and one that doesn’t have any scent, isn’t greasy, doesn’t sting my eyes, and has some moisturizing ingredients like hyaluronic acid. ... show more

  • Great tinted sunscreen
I use to the older version and loved it, so I was a little worried about this new formula. It is a little thicker but it blends in really well and my make up sits nicely on it.

  • My Go-To Face Sunscreen
I've been using this sunscreen for a couple years now and I'm super happy with it. I don't know much about sunscreens, but I came across this one and decided to try it based on all the great reviews. The reviewers definitely didn't let me down - this has become my go-to sunscreen and I plan to keep using it for years. One of the best things is that it goes on really smoothly under my foundation and makeup, so it's easy to use daily. The only downside is that it's a bit pricey, which could be an issue if you're on a tighter budget. But for me, the quality and how well it works makes it worth the cost. ... show more

  • Love it
I will say this 2 pumps was a lot. One pump spreads a good amount on the face to neck. It is build able but still sheer if that makes sense. I just put powder makeup over it to set it in longer. If you're into light makeup or just having an eh day this is it for you.

  • I really wanted to like the new formulation but I don't.
BUYER BEWARE: All those 5 star reviews are for the old formula! New formula is much thicker and not as easy to apply (doesn't glide as well). But could be ok if you don't mind that. My sunscreen journey with elta md. I have tried 3 tinted elta md sunscreens, all mineral/physical based. In case this could be useful to you when picking between different ones, here is my impression. I have been using elta md sunscreen for 6 month now. I started with the UV Physical (broad spectrum 41), and LOVED the mousse like feel that was light and the quick and easy application. I looked forward to using it. And that was a win because I usually hate sunscreens. I have fair/medium asian skin and for me the tint was appropriate and also I heard that the component of iron oxide in the tint helps protect from the UVA damaging light that ages you more. Just an extra layer of protection on top sunscreen actives. BUT unfortunately I found at the end of the day, I looked a bit dry. I could have probably used a moisturizer underneath but I didn't want to switch up my regiment for the day at that time. So I got this elta md elements 44 sunscreen here, the old formulation. It was a compromise, a bit thicker than the one above but it was also more moisturizing. My skin looked better by the end of the day without having to use a separate moisturizer, so mission accompolished (I usually use face oil after cleansing in the morning instead). So I thought I had found my sunscreen. So then I got this new bottle, the new formulation. And I almost can't stand it. On the upside, It is fine once it goes on, don't feel a thing, and the finish is fine, hence the 3 stars, but it makes me not want to use sunscreen, which makes me want to give it a one. It's much thicker and harder to apply for me. On the other hand it's easier to see areas that I have missed. I'm really sad because this is my daily face sunscreen, and it's a bit pricey for me so I just don't want to buy something that I don't enjoy using. So if you don't mind something a bit thicker and slower to apply, I think the ingredients are still probably great and can do good things for you. But if your goal is find a sunscreen that applies super easily, I wouldn't pick this one. Obviously still better than the old fashion white cast ones but still no fun. Now my skin can be different from yours but I had my friend use it and she hated it (we were cross trying different cleansers and sunscreens together). FYI my skin can be sensitive (now on retinoid so more so) and it's normal to combo (t zone) with some slightly dry areas. Hope you find the sunscreen of your dreams! ... show more
