    • This is an embarrassing product...
I like the rest of Cerave's line up, I use a ton of their other products. Their Skin Renewing Night Cream is probably one of the best moisturizers on the market at this moment and can go toe to toe with some of the big expensive brands you'd find at Sephora. I use their Diabetics Dry Skin Cream all the time and it's positively divine, so much so that I haven't bothered to test out other brands. It's just that good. This? This thing? I genuinely can't believe this is amongst their other products. I read a couple of reviews saying it leaves a white cast and I, looking for a way to make my fair medium skin tone lean more towards the fair end thought "hey, maybe it will lend me just enough to lighten me up a hair." No. I only used a tiny dab, not even the full amount you're SUPPOSED to use on your face and not only did it leave me with a white cast but with a blue-ish grey-ish cast that genuinely made me look like I had died about 6 hours ago. UNBELIEVABLY bad cast. And I'm a white person! If that leaves a cast that intense on me, I can't even imagine what kind of cast it would leave on someone darker than me! I get it, this is probably purely a physical sunscreen, its probably all zinc or mineral or something like that in there and the point is that is creates a literal physical barrier so that the uv light can't penetrate through or it bounces off. You can't have a physical barrier without it existing, that's literally impossible. HOWEVER. The fact that it's THAT bad of a blue grey cast??? What are we doing here????? ... show more

    • Overall a good budget choice.
PROS: Mineral sunscreen made specifically for your face. Price is good and seems to work effectively. CONS: A bit thick and can leave a whiteish cast if you don't rub it in all the way (and quickly). It dries fast and once it starts drying if you're still trying to move it around it will catch any dry skin and make it noticeable. TIPS/TRICKS - I found that putting my moisturizer on right before, letting it sit for a few mins to absorb, and then putting the sunscreen on helped it go on easier and smoother. - I also found that doing your whole face all at once and quickly getting it all rubbed in helps the white cast situation. OVERALL: I'd say a good budget choice from a good brand but def have to do some little tweaks to make it smoother. ... show more

    • Strong White Cast, Not Waterproof, Will Let You Tan
First, I do not recommend this for rigorous daily use or those with darker skin tones! This is a 100% mineral sunscreen, unlike some of CeraVe's other options. When you apply a "sufficient" amount according to guides, it looks VERY white - you can clearly tell you are wearing sunscreen. If you use less or rub it in (off) to make it blend, you are not as protected from the sun and will end up getting tanned (or sunburn, depending on likely you are to be used as a beacon to Gondor). It is also not waterproof for water activities or heavy sweating - granted, it doesn't say that it is, I just assumed since most mineral sunscreens are these days. It does come off with soap and water, but I found it a little drying and needed more moisturizer and lotion than I expected. (Could also have been the fact that I got a tan through it.) I will use this up during my summer sport anyway when "the sunscreen look" is expected, but I am a little disappointed as I was excited to try a sunscreen from CeraVe - I've loved all their other products. Next year I will likely go back to MDSolarSciences Mineral Moisture Defense SPF 50, which is the best I've found so far. ... show more

    • Disappointing Experience with CeraVe Sunscreen
I had high hopes for the CeraVe sunscreen based on its reputation, but unfortunately, it fell short of expectations. The sunscreen itself is quite thick and leaves a noticeable white cast on my skin, which is particularly unflattering, especially for daily wear. Despite the promise of a lightweight formula, it feels heavy and greasy on the skin, making it uncomfortable to wear throughout the day. Moreover, I found that it doesn't absorb well and tends to pill when layered with other skincare products, which is frustrating during my morning routine. The SPF protection is adequate, but the application process and texture make it difficult to justify using regularly. Overall, while I appreciate CeraVe's commitment to skincare and usually enjoy their products, this sunscreen was a miss for me. I'll be looking for a sunscreen that offers better application and a more cosmetically elegant finish in the future. ... show more
