Having just moved with my wife to a new apartment, we purchased two of these standing lamps for the living room. They are really quite attractive, with real glass shades (photos 1 & 2). [The last lamp I bought from Amazon turned out to have cheap plastic shades, which I didn’t want.] The assembly was quite simple and virtually idiot-proof— you couldn’t put the pieces together in the wrong order, as the electrical cord comes already running through each of the pieces, bar the shades. So why just two stars? In each of the glass shades (two per lamp, so I had four) there is a sticker (photo #3), stating that there is a risk of fire if you use a light bulb rated higher than 100 watts. That’s fine— a warning sticker is appropriate. What’s not so fine is the adhesive the manufacturer uses for the sticker. In four cases out of four, the adhesive stuck better to the glass of the lamp than it did to the sticker, ensuring that when the stickers were carefully peeled off, bits of adhesive adhered to the glass (photos 4 & 5). Having no idea how the adhesive would respond to the heat of using the lamp, I first tried to scrape it off with my thumb nail, and then with a sharp edge. It had no effect at all (photo 6). Finally, I went and got myself some alcohol swabs (also sold by Amazon, of course— happily, I already had a bunch). I then put some alcohol on the spots of adhesive, letting them soak for a couple of minutes, and began using the little swabs (and a bunch of elbow grease), rubbing at the adhesive until it finally came clear. All told, it added a good 20 minutes per lamp to the otherwise nominal assembly time, and still more to the frustration level the assembly produced. Once I managed to get both lamp’s shades “de-adhesived” and assembled, I was happy to see that they will be a good fit for the space— in fact, the reading lights are really too bright. I’ll swap them out for lower wattage bulbs as soon as I can find the box that’s (apparently 𝘯𝘰𝘵) marked “Fragile — Light Bulbs”. And if it wasn’t for the adhesive problem, I’d happily have given the lamps a couple more points. ... show more

I rarely write a review because most items are as expected. This lamp exceeded our expectations. We bought it to replace an antique lamp for which we could not find a replacement glass shade. It is just as beautiful as the antique lamp but is brighter and has the lower lamp which is great for reading. This is amazing especially considering the low price. ... show more

Great product. But turned out I ordered the wrong one for my daughter's bday. The package was not even opened. I sent pictures but the company would not take it back. So,I ended up having to eat the cost for it. And I reordered and repaid for the right one.

    • Nice-Looking Lamp
This lamp looks very nice in my living room and was simple to put together. The only thing I don't like is that it doesn't want to stay level on my carpet. But I'm not 100% sure it's the lamp. It might just be that my carpet is old and worn.

This lamp is simply gorgeous…and the price…..well can’t be beat. I wouldn’t say it was made cheaply at all….but… I had read reviews from others prior to purchasing another the connection at the base from the base to the pole coming loose. So when I put mine together I was very VERY careful not to overtighten that connection and only handled the lamp by the base and not the pole to try to avoid this. BUT. It didn’t matter. I think it is a defect in the fact that the threaded area from the base needs to be longer to extend up into the connecting rod AND the ALUMINUM rod needs a LONGER METAL insert TO CONNECT TO THE METAL THREADS ON THE WIDNERFULLY STABLE BASE! Then if that was fixed, I had no other problems with the lamp. All other joints went together perfect and the lamp shades are gorgeous with the swirling brown ... show more
