It took a few tries screwing on each section before the parts screwed correctly. However, one section just wouldn't screw correctly because it appears to be off and only would screw half the way because when I went further, it just looked bent. I left it halfway so it would appear straight. It does leave about a half inch of silver showing so I tied a scarf around it and it looks fine. It seems sturdy, and puts off decent light. I have a 100 watt bulb coming so it will be even more light. Overall, nice light for the money and serves its purpose...recently moved my old torch light and the bottom cement crumbled into several pieces. Hopefully, this light will last as long as the last. The pole is a decent thickness which many torch lights seem to lack these days. ... show more

This was a replacement for a previous torchiere where the concrete and plastic base snapped after 10+years. I was trying to find something close to what we had and although I wouldn't exactly call this bronze . . .black with yellowish/gold lines would be more appropriate, at least it is a three-way switch and doesn't feel wobbly when its screwed together like some more slender posts. The yellowed glass shade is OK if you live in a smoker house as it looks like it was white and yellowed after years of smoke stains it. Our old white shade fit almost perfect and we used that instead of the, quite frankly, nasty, looking yellow shade. Not trying to hate on it, but it just really subtracts from the light output quality and brightness overall. But on the plus side it only cost $36bucks so perfection was not a quality expected. It definitely falls into the GEM category - Good Enough for Me. ... show more

I'm am so pleasantly surprised by this lamp! It was easy to assemble as long as you take care to not cross thread as you go. There are no gaps between each section, its base is weighted and super sturdy, it stands soldier straight, and the finish is beautiful with no blemishes. I highly recommend this lamp. I was able to assemble the lamp easily and it looks good in a home office. The amount of light is very adequate for reading in a wide area directly under the light where it reflects off the ceiling. It’s good for lighting the room but not as good for reading in other areas. Take the time to make sure the tubes are aligned well before screwing them together. Some people suggest oiling them. I didn’t but would have if I had any trouble - just take it slow the first couple of turns and start over if it doesn’t feel smooth. Nice heavy base so no worries about it tipping. The glass dome is much nicer than plastic like on others in this price range. I am using this in an outlet with a wall switch so I don’t really use the built in light switch but it seems OK. ... show more

These lamps are furniture store quality. They have a heavy base and a real glass torchiere shade. The pole is sturdy. They are about 6ft tall and there are no cheap parts. It uses a normal sized 3-way bulb and goes from dim to bright.

This thing comes in the box almost completely assembled, you literally have to just thread the pipes together and install a lightbulb and the thing is good to go. Seems nice and sturdy, although being a lamp I doubt it will go through much wear and tear. One thing to note is that this thing is long and heavy. It’s not unliftable for most people but for someone who is elderly or someone with physical disabilities/deficiencies it might be too awkward and heavy to move alone. All in all it’s a nice lamp and I’d definitely buy one again ... show more

I bought this lamp to replace one I had for many years. The base and stem are all metal and very sturdy. It is an attractive lamp and a good value for the money. The only drawback is the glass shade was too dark for my taste so I replaced it with the one from my old lamp which is lighter in color. Much better. Definitely recommend this product. ... show more
