  • Ok
Wish the plug was reversable

  • Works fantastic for testing USB charging devices and cables.
This product has shown me that even the charging cable can affect how fast our mobile phones charge. And it has also proven that wireless charging is the way to go, of course depending on your charger. But my wireless chargers shut themselves off when the phone reaches 100%. Which is something I couldn't find out without this. ... show more

  • Keep tabs of your energy costs
I run a three computer system in my home and this device allows me to know exactly how much energy is being used and a reliable cost estimate.

  • Well made, well documented, full featured, value priced.
Nice back lighting and easy to read display (not sure what others are complaining about). Good features. Appears well made. Superior power rating to others I've seen. Great manual. If you plug it into the upper wall outlet, there's room enough to still use the lower outlet. Quick delivery and a great price. I can't believe I'm saying this about any contemporary consumer electronics product purchased in the last 10 years, but I'm happy with this one after a week of use. Can't say long term, of course. I bought this Spartan Power Energy Watt Meter after owning a Kill-o-Watt meter for many years that I was never very impressed with. The Kill-o-Watt ground prong broke off with just a moderate amount of resistance while plugging it into an extension cord. It's been designated for a single use and I wanted another meter I could move around the house. I'm not sure why, but I found it difficult to locate this meter on Amazon. The Kill-o-Watt meter kept dominating my searches, but I dug deep and eventually found the Spartan Meter on one of the similar item scroll areas. It got many good reviews, but fewer than the Kill-o-Watt meter, which makes me a bit nervous of review manipulation, but this Spartan meter is legit. I was particularly impressed with the seller responses to complaints contained in a minority of the reviews. I'd recommend over the Kill-o-Watt meter, without hesitation. I'm not sure if the Spartan product is new, or perhaps has only recently begun selling on Amazon, as suggested by the low number of reviews. Mine came with alkaline batteries, but probably won't install them since I know I'll forget them and they will eventually leak. If I find a need for batteries (it works without them for the functions I'm using right now) I'll get some lithium type. Don't be held hostage to the Kill-o-Watt meter if you suspect there is something better. I believe I've found it. And for the price, this thing is worth taking a chance on. Designed in America. Manufactured in China, as most affordable things are these days. ... show more

  • Works great
A lot better than kill a watt I've used in the past. Has a ton of features, and a nice backlit screen.

  • Good if you understand the product
I have had no issues with the product itself. It seems to create accurate readings (tested with a multimeter). It is frustrating that it doesn't seem to be able to clear its collection readings as described in the manual - you have to do a hard reset which clears other things like the system-time, price per kwh, etc. It's not the worst thing in the world but it also isn't functioning as described. I struggled to pick 3 or 4 stars, but at the end of the day lower may encourage the manufacturer to adjust their product accordingly. I do appreciate that this has more information than the competitor. and that battery power will maintain readings if the power to the outlet is cut (intentionally or unintentionally). ... show more

  • Upgrade from traditional Kill-a-Watt
This electric usage monitor replaces a Kill-a-Watt meter that finally died after about a decade of good service. I very much like the fact that this device can retain statistics across power failures. For some applications, the recording and graphing of power use over time could also be really useful. In addition, it seems to offer a higher power rating than most of the other available devices. On the down-side, the device is pretty time consuming to set up by poking buttons to set date, time, electric rates, etc. before you can actually just use it for measurements. In addition, although the manual indicates that it's possible to clear the stored data without resetting the unit, I was unable to get the unit to respond to this magic button sequence, and was forced to reset the unit (and go through all that setup again) in order to start monitoring a different device with a "clean slate." ... show more

  • Inaccurate and difficult to use
Shows 165 volts vs my meter that shows 125. Difficult to operate. Changing the settings took me several tries. The instructions say to press and hold two of the buttons for 2 secs until the screen flashes to clear the data. This does NOT work...I had to press the reset button. The metal tab in the battery compartment broke off, but it still makes contact enough to work. Poor quality. I can still get the measurements I need to size my backup power system but this thing is very poor quality. ... show more
