  • Works Great So Far
Style: 1-stage Size: 21-Inch w/(2) 5.0Ah Batteries
I live in Minnesota. I have a 3-car garage, so my driveway is of average suburban length, 3 cars wide tapering to two at the bottom. It's a little steep at the bottom -- be careful when it's icy. Santa gave me one of these for Christmas. I'll share my thoughts. I got the two-battery option with 5-AH batteries. I thought the difference between 1 battery and 2 would be longevity of a charge, but I think 2 might also have a little more power. I'm not sure. We've had one significant snowfall, and I was out of town. It was 4-6 inches of powder but compacted down to about 2 inches of crunch, crunchy snow by the time I plowed it. I'll update this review after we get a serious storm. This guy did great, for a 1-stage blower. When aimed ahead and not blowing into the wind, yes, it will make it (estimated) the 35-feet advertised. It does not throw that far when diverted to the side. I'm guessing I lose about half the range. This meant instead of going up and down the driveway like I do with my monster 2-stage, I went side to side. The blower handled that just fun, clearing the driveway easily. It does not clear as well as a shovel, but it probably did a little better than my two-stage and didn't take any longer. It was way, way faster than shoveling, and I didn't put my back out. And it's not remotely as hard to move about as my 2-stage, but as I said, that guy's a monster (larger than necessary for the size of my driveway). Assembly was trivial. There's almost nothing to do. It took me 15 minutes. Operation -- well, if you actually read the manual, also trivial. The batteries are huge but go in easily To start, "press and hold the button and squeeze the handle". Then it's like your lawn mower -- release the handle and it stops. You must press and hold the button first, or it won't run. There's a fairly nice headlight if you're out at night. Compared to any gas-powered device, this guy is a lot quieter. It's not silent. There's a definite whir, and it sounds crunch against the crunchy snow. But I didn't feel like I needed hearing protection. It might be quiet enough not to wake the neighbors; I'm not sure. Maybe I'll ask them. It comes with a single-battery charger, so you have to charge one at a time. The charger is huge. This isn' t and electric drill, after all. It can be mounted on the wall. I put it downstairs -- they'll charge faster when they're not out in a cold garage. This is reasonably light. After I finished my driveway, I hauled it through the house and did my deck, too. I don't even try with the gas guy. There's a lever to rotate the discharge chute, although you have to step to the side of the machine and use a handle on the chute if you want to change the up/down angle. Up for further distance, down if it's windy and blowing back in your face. I forgot the lever was there and was rotating it side-to-side by hand. Silly me. I am estimating batteries will last 4 or 5 seasons before needing replacement. If so, this might cost me $100 in batteries a season. Compared to paying for a service -- or even taking the two-stage for annual tuneups -- that's either cheap (compared to a service) or not bad (tuneups). As long as I don't let the batteries get to old, it will always run, which is a nice bonus. So far, the only downside would be if I wanted to also plow my neighbor's driveways, which I would frequently do with the two-stage. I don't think a single charge would last through two driveways. And I'm not sure if they'll last through one with a significant snowfall, but if not, I'll just take a break and let them charge. It doesn't take all that long. ... show more

  • Great Smowblower, but extra batteries prices are insane
Style: 1-stage Size: Snow Blower w/2-5.0Ah Batteries, Steel Auger
Review for the EGO Power+ SNT2112 Peak Power Snow Blower with Steel Auger - 5.0Ah Battery and Dual Port Charger Included (not self propelled) Pros: I’m very happy to say that the blower did a great job clearing a 8-10in light snow fall (Colorado powder). It’s nicer and light and so much easier to push than my older gas powered blower. We don’t have a 12 car driveway, but we do have a corner lot with a lot of sidewalk. The two batteries included gave me enough power to clear off our driveway, a double pass on 200 feet of sidewalk,(ours and our next door neighbor’s walk), and behind our neighbor’s car. The next storm, my neighbor across the street asked me to do her walkway while she was on vacation. I was able blow 400 feet of sidewalk, her driveway and some of ours on one charge. This is as 6-8 in of heavier snow. Our neighbors (the sunny side of the street) was a bit soupy. It cleared it without and issues. I had to recharged my batteries to finished my driveway. It’s wonderful to just push a button to start it and not have to mix gas an oil! Cons: The cost of replacement/extra batteries are insane. It would cost almost as much to buy another snowblower with batteries. All my other yard tools are Ryobi and the batteries are reasonably priced.. I went with non Ryobi, because they are still working out breakage issues. Third party batteries may be the solution, but EGO should correct that problem. I will not ever pay $240 for hours each 5.0Ah, Li-Ion batteries. That’s $480 to run my blower. Fortunately, I don’t expect to need more batteries for a while. ... show more

  • Looks like a nice machine.
Style: 1-stage Size: Snow Blower w/2-5.0Ah Batteries, Steel Auger
First, all the date codes say August 2022, so Amazon doesn't have these sitting around somewhere for a few years. As with most Ego products, they are relatively new and sought after so they aren't hanging on shelves for many years. The mowers and the snowblowers at least. I did check out my local lowes, they had about 4 of these and 1 bigger model, not a big selection tbh. So I'm happy I got it now, before it snows and everyone is looking for one. They will sell out eventually like they always do. There's something to be said about opening a box, attaching a chute, charging batteries and being ready to go. That is the major upside to an Ego (or any battery operated product). This thing goes together like a dream. The batteries are very durable looking and easy to use. Everything just slides on and slides off. The people that designed these machines deserve an award, honestly, its pretty fn amazing. You can see the battery level on the batteries as you are going, which is nice, until it gets covered with snow. Eventually you will know its capabilities for your property. To top off the greatness, Amazon offered me an option I've never seen to pay for it in 5 payments through them, not some 3rd party company. So similar to Affirm or the like, but no interest which is amazing for bigger items. Amazon is amazing for this. Maybe Bezo is actually thinking about people in these hard times (however im sure its only to be competitive). The only loss of 1 star is because the box looked to be opened and it was tapped back together in a slightly shady manner. However, it doesn't look to be used at all nor does it appear the batteries were ever used (they are the newer style with multiple green lines to know how much is left in them). The people who delivered it, were very good, they were in a ryder truck (so no idea who the heck Amazon has delivering these items or where they actually come from) but its whatever if it works lol. Maybe they open the box just no one can claim something is missing? Would be my best guess. Everything is still all wrapped up and the in place and nothing was marred up or anything. Its a snow blower so as long as it works idr care I guess. That was my only reason for subtracting 1 star. If Amazon does check the product out (which is fine) be transparent about it. We check the item to ensure all parts are included, soemthing like that would be nice. Anyway, we'll see how it does this winter. I will update when we get our first snow fall. Im not going to charge these batteries until I know the snow is coming. They come shipped with 2 bars of power so I did test the machine n it appears to function properly. Fwi to all who use lithium batteries O have been using batteries like this for many years in the RC world (not this big obviously). When you store this machine for the summer, it is best to have roughly 40% to 60% charge in these batteries. Regardless of what they tell me to do, I will not be storing these long term fully charged. Where I work they have 2 of these and 2 lawnmowers and the people that use em do not care at all about them, because the state will buy more kinda mentality. That is what pushed me to purchase mine and these have proven themselves there. The only real issue anyone ever truly has is battery life/expectations were to high for battery life. If you have anything battery powered running full throttle, ofcourse u will get less time out if. That will be the only limiting factor for anyone. If, you end up going all ego, then buy all the machines that come with batteries and eventually you will have a nice stock pile of batteries ready to go. I would love to see a new charger with the option to be able to change charge rate, discharge, storage mode, quick charge, and balance (they know the majority of consumers cannot process this unfortunately) so it makes sense they dont. It would increase the longevity of these batteries big time. I have lipo batteries for my rc planes that are easily 10 years old with many cycles and min degradation. ... show more
