Description

The AVS2 Series is the next generation in Edelbrock carburetors. The AVS2 features annular flow primary boosters with a new calibration for improved off idle and cruising performance. The annular flow booster design delivers improved fuel atomization to eliminate flat spots that may be encountered when the carburetor transitions from idle to full throttle. Each annular booster features eight, equally spaced orifices to improve fuel metering from idle to the main. The improved flow metering makes this carburetor ideal for use with a wide variety of small-block and big-block engines with either dual- or single-plane intake manifolds. The AVS2 includes both timed and full vacuum ports for ignition advance. It comes with: Metering Jets - Primary . 101, Secondary . 098; Metering Rods - . 070 x . 037; Step-Up Spring - orange (5" Hg). Use carb Studs 8008 or 8024 if needed. Match with an Edelbrock intake manifold for the ultimate induction upgrade.

  • Edelbrock 650 CFM AVS carburetor
I gave it 4 stars because it is in my opinion an overpriced carburetor. With tax it was $425. You would think at that price it would be ready to install. It was not. You still have to buy carb mounting studs. My order was also missing the installation DVD. You may also need to purchase a different fuel line fitting because your air filter assembly will not fit. Edelbrock is a multi million if not billion dollar company. Yet they do not have a contact email address. You have to call their tech department. Super long wait times. You can also live chat with them but I was not able to do so. What company in 2022 does not have an email address? Dumb!!! On the positive side—once I got all parts ready for install it took about 20 mins to get carb bolted on and adjusted. Car fired right up and I adjusted fuel mixture screws for highest vacuum reading. Then adjusted idle and I was ready to go. It felt a little more responsive than my Quadrajet. My Quadrajet gave me 30 years of trouble free service. Hopefully this Edelbrock carburetor holds up as well as my Q-jet. My SBC 350 has 400+ horsepower and I did not need to make any changes to the Edelbrock carb besides fuel mixture and idle adjustment. Ran good straight out of box. Update —1 week later I could not get carburetor to work properly. It was good at idle but lean at part throttle. If I got the part throttle working correctly then it would be too rich at idle. Adjusted fuel mixture screws many times. Also had very strong smell of gas after I drove car and then turned engine off. Turns out carburetor was leaking fuel internally. Too much trouble for a new carburetor. Amazon made it right by refunding my money. 2 stars because it had very good full throttle performance. Probably a good carburetor for a dedicated track car that only runs 1/8 or 1/4 mile. ... show more

  • Wow...Wow...Wow...
Had a older 650 AVS carb on my 77 383 Camaro. It never idled right mainly because I had to adjust the mixture with timing to cover up a hesitation off of idle. This was after every change you could possibly make. Step up springs, accelerator pump, rods, jets. I lived with it but hated the STINK the exhaust had. This new 650 AVS 2 has solved ALL those issues. The throttle response is instant and the car feels like it's gained 50hp when you leave the stoplight.. Best of all, I can adjust my idle mixture down to a 14-15 to 1 this eliminates the exhaust stink I had with the old 650 AVS carb. I ordered a Rod and Jet kit for it....but am going to return it, I don't need it. Out of the box it's freakin awesome ... show more

Night and Day difference between this 1905 and my old 1406 carb. I'm now starting to think there was something wrong with my 1406 from the factory simply cause I tried every spring/metering rod/jet combo I could to dial in my 351w. It never touched this in comparison. This out of the box is perfect. I haven't seen a need at all to make any adjustments to the factory settings other than normal tuning out of the box for idle an all. I'll report back when I have some hard numbers for fuel mileage comparison, but so far it seems identical mileage wise with much more power and better throttle response than before. ... show more

My intake is an old 327 chevy 1966. Intake has 4 same size holes. had to uses adapter Edelbrock 2696.

  • Easy, Awesome, & no hassles
I am very happy with this carb!!! Put it on my chevy small block 350 bored .30 over on my '79 Camaro in just minutes. Barely had to adjust anything to make it idle smoothly. Was very impressed by that. Sold!!!

Works great for my application. 1966 Chevrolet Caprice 327ci that was rebuilt by a shop that specializes in race motors. This is a good carburetor for the application and is working well.
