    • A little practice to achieve great results

First, a little about me - I am a photographer that has used professional matting and framing equipment. I’m picky enough that I won’t print a lake or ocean shot if the horizon is off by as little as half a degree without correcting. I read all the reviews first and decided to try this out. I took on a project to produce 75 cards and was going to try to find a way to utilize my matting equipment, then realized I should look for something on Amazon first. The reviews about the marks not being 100% accurate made sense after trying a couple sheets of paper. I wasted sheets of cheap blank paper until I figured out which lines to use and adjustments I needed to make for my project. The flimsiness of regular paper makes it difficult to score a straight line, and the 80lb cover stock I used was about the lowest weight I would use on this scoring board. After wasting a few sheets of paper and feeling confident about my settings, I managed to score my 75 cards in less than an hour with no mistakes. I did notice that some of my cards were not perfectly lined up, but that may have been on account of the paper I was using. While setting the left edge prior to scoring, I noticed that there were variations of squareness. I was skeptical about buying a product which is essentially a plastic butter knife and a ribbed table, thinking the knife was going to jump track at some point. That never happened. In the end, I’m very happy with this purchase. If you need to compete with Hallmark, maybe you need to spend more than $20, but for most people, this should do the trick. ... show more

This little gem does fantastic work on little jobs. It's not an industrial paper cutter. However, for the price, I love it! The upside: It has both inches and centimeters for measuring (and you need to make sure whatever you choose has the measurements you want). It gives a nice clean cut. The grooves are great for scoring paper for folding and it comes with a scoring tool. It folds in half so it's easy to store and very portable. The downside (which is why I gave it four stars): you need to make some practice cuts to determine the speed and pressure that work best, otherwise it will tear the paper instead of cutting it. I can't cut more than two regular pieces of paper. I can cut cardstock but only one at a time. This is a perfect product for a scrapbooker or someone who trims photos and cards. I never knew I needed a scorer until I wanted to try a new craft project. I had been eyeing a new paper cutter anyways, so I bought this combo tool and I'm so glad I did. The scoring portion is easy to use and the measurements along the top help make sure your scores are even and accurate. There is storage for the scoring tool as well. The paper cutter is sharp and you can use the same "ruler" to make sure your cuts are the length you want. The unit folds in half for easy storage - it makes it the size of my older cutter that I was replacing, but I love that it expands to be the full length of my 12x12 paper and vinyl. the board was hard to read in inches, it was in centimeters which did not work for me so I had to return it, they need to come up with one that uses inches because it 's a great idea to have the scoring board and cutting board together instead of having to use and store both boards
