From the award-winning author of Hide and Fall comes the third book in the Detective Harriet Foster thriller series, a taut tale of renegade justice with a heart-stopping finale.Hardwicke House, home to Belverton College’s exclusive Minotaur Society, is no stranger to tragedy. And when a body turns up in the field next to the mansion, the scene looks chillingly familiar.Chicago PD sends hard-nosed Detective Harriet “Harri” Foster to investigate. The victim is Brice Collier, a wealthy Belverton student, whose billionaire father, Sebastian, owns Hardwicke and ranks as a major school benefactor. Sebastian also has ties to the mansion’s notorious past, when thirty years ago, hazing led to a student’s death in the very same field.Could the deaths be connected? With no suspects or leads, Harri and her partner, Detective Vera Li, will have to dig deep to find answers. No charges were ever filed in the first case, and this time, Harri’s determined the killer must pay. But still grieving her former partner’s death, Harri must also contend with a shadowy figure called the voice—and their dangerous game of cat and mouse could threaten everything. Read more

  • Great read
My first time reading this series and it didn’t disappoint. Great characters, well paced plot. Multiple plot lines with a single theme.

  • Good Read
I liked the book, it kept things moving while still holding my attention. I would recommen it to those who enjoy a mystery, crime or cop read.

  • Enjoyable
Tracy Clark is always a good read. A believable story with interesting characters. You don't know the ending beforehand. I look forward to her next book.

  • Good Book
Third in the series and it holds up well. Following the stories from the previous books and giving some closure. Can be read without having read the others.

  • Cold Justice.
A cold and uncaring act perpetrated by a few entitled, elite college kids 30 years ago starts a chain of events that comes back to haunt them in a very bad way, starting with the copycat murder of another rich, entitled frat boy. As Harri and Vera search for the murderer, the man who went to prison when Harri's father testified against him is on his own mission to make Harri's life a hell on earth. He can't get to Harri's father since he's dead, so Harri, her family, and her friends will all have to suffer in his place. There was a lot going on with these two stories, but both were interesting and leave you wondering if anyone will get satisfaction in the end. I had mixed feelings about whether the killer was a "bad guy" or just another victim of some uber-rich man who had nothing but contempt for people he felt were "beneath" him. The biggest surprise comes when Harri's stalker is taken care of in an unforseen but very satisfying manner. I waited a long time for this book to come out, and I very much enjoyed it while it lasted. Now, sadly, I have to wait for the next one. ... show more

  • Decent characters…
Lots of angst which made the main characters believable. And I truly felt Harri’s pain at losing her little boy and partner. But the book is overlong. I skimmed the last thirty pages… no suspense at all. Author has skills but a lot of the time, she used so many same-gender pronounces at once that I lost track of who’s who. ... show more

  • Excellent Series!
I have read all 3 books in this series and am looking forward to the next one! Great homicide mysteries to solve, along with intriguing characters who grow with each novel.

  • Exciting story
Good diverse story lines that seemingly had little to do with each other other than the detectives involved. Nice hanger at the end... Who was "the driver"?
