  • Great stuff, but the clear coat is junk
Sprayed over a gloss black primer, this stuff gave a great chrome finish. I made the mistake of using their clear coat, though, It turned a chrome finish into brushed nickel.

  • Compatible With MOST Automotive Finishes - Not All
I originally gave this stuff five stars 'cause it obviously has potential, and others have made it work. Not me. My pitted '58 Continental horn ring was going to be ferociously expensive to re-chrome and I hoped this would do the trick. The product arrived with absolutely no documentation (the label only says "mist on"... no info on how many coats, drying time between coats, etc.), and all I could find on Eastwood's website was a video showing how nice it looked on a Chevy engine timing cover. Nothing specific. While Eastwood recommends a black urethane undercoat, they also indicate this is compatible with most automotive finishes. So after hours of smoothing and filling, I got an ultra-smooth black enamel finish on the horn ring, then went for the spray-on chrome. Epic fail. Loads of wrinkles everywhere, although one smooth section on the hub showed that it *could* work. So I stripped everything off, redid the whole job, and sprayed it with black urethane. The mist coats of chrome were extremely light and I allowed a few minutes' drying time after each one to ensure I wasn't laying on too much thick material. Failure #2. Wrinkles. So... I can see the potential. I just can't make it work. ... show more
